The are not just shifting society’s misperceptions of populations typically cast aside – they’re uncovering people’s self-worth and transforming the lives of generations. 💫

For over 35 years, Karen Peterson Corash has been redefining what it means to move. Through , she’s created physically integrated dances that challenge traditional ideas of the “body” — where it begins or ends, what makes it “whole,” and how a wheelchair is not a limitation but an extension of artistic freedom.

It started in 1990 with a woman named Mildred Levenson — a wheelchair user, activist, and actress from New York.

👩‍🦼👩‍🦽‍➡️Karen recalls: “Audiences at the time were really engaged. I don't think they had ever seen a person use a chair in a performance…Audiences should give themselves a chance to go to performances and come with an open mind.”

From the Forward Motion Dance Festival in Miami to stages across the globe 🌍, KPD proves that belongs to everyone.

What if Miami’s social impact ecosystem could thrive on shared resources, tech integration, and a bold shift from charity to a for-impact mindset? 🤔

💡 is offering a radical new blueprint.

“It’s time to stop calling ourselves ‘nonprofits’ and start embracing the idea of for-impact ventures. This isn’t charity. It’s critical, professional work — not just our passion — and we must treat it, and resource it, as such.” — Joan Marie Godoy, CEO of Radical Partners

Adam’s deep love for the ocean led him to co-found — a nonprofit that connects students from underserved communities with conservation and marine biology-focused experiences on the water.

Students don’t pay for the trips; they complete the Ocean Hero Challenge service project in exchange — creating and presenting a Public Service Announcement about how to be a hero for the ocean.

🌊 A Lifelong Love for the Water 💙

“The fact that, throughout my life, I have gravitated to coastal cities is probably a direct result of learning to swim at a young age. I absolutely love the ocean,” says Adam Steckley, co-founder & CEO of .

Adam started swimming at just 3 years old. By 5, he was already competing. Today, he’s an open-water racer helping others build the same confidence and connection to the ocean that shaped his own journey.

🏊‍♂️ Through , Adam is expanding access to ocean education for youth historically left out — blending hands-on marine adventures with student-led service projects that spark real change.

🔹 “It’s about helping kids feel safe and confident in the water before any fears set in — and hopefully starting a lifelong connection to the water,” he says.

David Lawrence Jr.’s journey from newspaper publisher to fearless advocate for early childhood education is nothing short of inspiring. ✨

We visited him at his Coral Gables home — where history & heart collide. Global milestones meet deeply personal memories.

From decades in journalism to founding The Children’s Movement of Florida, Dave’s story is all about trust, love, and chutzpah — that bold, gritty spirit that drives real change.

In many ways, chutzpah is what unites Miami changemakers: the courage to push boundaries, blend empathy with grit, faith with audacity, and resilience with just the right amount of stubbornness. ❤️‍🔥

David Lawrence Jr. says it best:
“We need leaders of moral conscience. We need people who inspire people.” 🕊️
