We officially ended our marriage. I had accepted the fact that things with Mike were finished even before we signed the divorce papers... He always put his extravagant life first. Lavish cars, a sprawling house, anything to make people say, "LOOK AT ME."
So when he eventually asked for a divorce, I wasn’t caught off guard. What did surprise me was his arrogant attitude while he DEMANDED EVERYTHING — house, car, savings. He left me "my personal stuff" as if I should be grateful.
I only smiled and consented. My lawyer thought I was being foolish, but I told her to proceed. We signed, and I was out the same day. Mike was oblivious to the fact I’d prepared with ONE LAST CALL. My arrangements were already set.
The morning after, my phone rang. Mike sounded furious and shaky.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!"
A laugh was hard to stifle. "Now what, Mike?"
"YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT!" he barked. "I’m in my living room… and GUESS WHO I’M LOOKING AT!"

I spent weeks planning my husband's 35th birthday party. Every detail had to be perfect. I ordered his favorite cake from the bakery across town, strung up lights in the backyard, and even created a slideshow of our happiest memories together. Friends, family, and coworkers all gathered in our home that evening, laughing, drinking, waiting for the moment he would arrive.
When the door finally opened, everyone shouted, "Surprise!" Balloons bounced, glasses clinked, and the air buzzed with excitement.
But my heart dropped instantly.
Because he wasn't alone.
He walked in holding another woman's hand. She was younger, perfectly dressed, her eyes scanning the room with smug satisfaction.
I froze, still gripping the lighter I had just used for the candles. My cheeks burned, but I told myself to stay strong.
And then he raised his glass.
"First, I want to thank my wife, Lara, for this beautiful party," he said.
"But I also have an announcement to make. UNFORTUNATELY, LARA AND I ARE DIVORCING. AND NOW, PLEASE MEET MY FIANCÉE, BEVERLY!"
He lifted the woman's hand for everyone to see.
Laughter and whispers spread through the room. I felt humiliated, blindsided, shattered. My throat tightened, but I refused to cry. I couldn't give them that satisfaction.
Instead, I decided in that very moment to take the one thing from him that he valued most. So I straightened my shoulders, lifted my chin, and walked right up to his mistress.
"Attention everyone, I have an announcement too."⬇️

Even though he never achieved it, this passion remained with him until his death 🙏 ⬇️
