Meta to Cut Metaverse Budget by 30%, Shares Rise 4% on Wall Street.

360 Raw Magazine Staff

Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is preparing to slash up to 30% of its budget for its metaverse initiative, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The announcement sent the tech giant’s stock up 4% in morning trading on Wall Street.

Budget Cuts in the Metaverse
Bloomberg revealed that Meta intends to reduce spending on its Reality Labs division—responsible for virtual and augmented reality—by as much as 30% starting in 2026.

The decision was discussed during a series of strategic meetings held last month at CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s residence in Hawaii.

Since 2020, Reality Labs has consumed more than $60 billion in investment, sparking criticism over the sustainability of Meta’s metaverse strategy.

The scale of the cuts—up to one-third of the division’s budget—could lead to layoffs in the first quarter of 2026, according to Bloomberg.

Market Reaction
Following the report, Meta’s shares rose nearly 4% in Thursday’s session, signaling investor relief over reduced spending.

Analysts view the move as a shift toward higher-return areas, particularly artificial intelligence.

Pivot Toward Artificial Intelligence
Meta is working to strengthen its position in the AI race, competing with Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI.

Earlier this year, the company launched its Superintelligence Lab, investing $14.3 billion in Scale AI and acquiring a 49% stake in the startup led by Alexandr Wang.

The company aims to redirect resources from the metaverse into AI-powered devices and smart wearables.

Meta’s Llama 4 model has faced criticism compared to rivals, increasing pressure on the company to consolidate its AI investments.

Strategic Context
Zuckerberg rebranded Facebook as Meta in 2021, declaring the metaverse “the next frontier, just as social media was when we started.”

However, limited adoption and mounting losses have forced the company to rethink its priorities.

The cuts highlight that AI has now become the centerpiece of Meta’s long-term strategy, overtaking the metaverse as its main bet.

Meta’s decision marks a turning point: after years of heavy investment in building a parallel digital universe, the company is scaling back its metaverse ambitions to double down on artificial intelligence. Investors welcomed the move, but the future of Reality Labs—and its workforce—remains uncertain.

The New York Times Sues the Pentagon Over New Press Restrictions.

360 Raw Magazine Staff.

WASHINGTON — The New York Times announced Thursday that it has filed a lawsuit against the Pentagon, challenging new restrictions imposed on the press when reporting on the U.S. military.

Background
The Pentagon recently introduced rules that sharply limit physical access to its facilities and restrict the use of official sources.

On October 16, the deadline to accept the new policy, veteran correspondents — some with more than thirty years covering the Defense Department — turned in their credentials in protest.

The Times argues that the policy is designed to “close the doors of the Pentagon — areas historically open to the press — to news organizations, like the plaintiffs, that investigate and report without fear or favor on the department’s actions and leadership.”

Legal Arguments
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

The Times contends that the Pentagon’s policy represents “exactly the kind of scheme restricting freedom of speech and of the press” that both the Supreme Court and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals have recognized as unconstitutional under the First Amendment.

The newspaper is asking the court to block enforcement of the policy and to declare its provisions unlawful.

Pentagon’s Position.

Defense officials insist that access to military facilities is a “privilege subject to regulation.”

They argue the new rules are intended to prevent leaks that could compromise operational security and national security.

New Credential Holders
Following the withdrawal of reporters from major outlets such as The Washington Post, CNN, and The New York Times, credentials were issued to influencers and bloggers.

Among them, Lance Johnston, a member of the conservative group Fearless Media, boasted on social media that “the desks” once occupied by mainstream reporters “now belong to us.”

Political Implications
The case raises fundamental questions about the balance between national security and press freedom in the United States.

Analysts in Washington note that the lawsuit pits the Pentagon, under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, against one of the nation’s most influential newspapers.

The outcome could set a precedent for how far the government can go in regulating press access to military institutions.

Mariah Carey’s Christmas Classic Poised to Return to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
360 Raw Magazine Staff
Mariah Carey is once again dominating the holiday season with her timeless hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which is on track to reclaim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 2025. The so‑called “Queen of Christmas” continues to extend her historic reign on the charts, backed by record‑breaking numbers and an enduring cultural impact.

Carey’s Holiday Reign
Iconic Song: “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” released in 1994 on the album Merry Christmas, has become a global holiday anthem.

Billboard Records: Since 2019, the track has reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 every December, cementing Carey as the female artist with the most cumulative weeks at the top.

2025 Milestones:

The song re‑entered the Hot 100 on November 15, 2025, its earliest return ever, debuting at No. 31.

For the chart dated December 13, 2025, Billboard projects it could achieve its 19th week at No. 1, tying historic records.

On the Holiday 100, Carey has already held the top spot since late November.

Cultural and Economic Impact
Streaming Power: Over 2.284 billion streams on Spotify and 827 million views on YouTube as of December 2025.

Revenue: The track generates approximately $2.5 million annually in royalties, making Carey one of the most profitable artists of the season.

Cultural Phenomenon: Each year, the holiday season is marked by Carey’s viral “It’s time!” video, which sparks a surge in streams across platforms.

Historical Context
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” remains the only holiday song in history to repeatedly reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 across multiple consecutive years.

Carey already boasts 19 career No. 1 hits, and another return to the summit would further solidify her status as one of Billboard’s most successful artists ever.

Thirty years after its release, the song continues to thrive in playlists, films, commercials, and collaborations—such as the popular 2011 remix with Justin Bieber.

Mariah Carey not only maintains her crown as the “Queen of Christmas,” but each December she reaffirms her dominance in the music industry. With record‑breaking streaming numbers, multimillion‑dollar royalties, and a cultural influence that spans generations, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is expected to reclaim the Billboard Hot 100’s top spot next week—securing a legacy without precedent.

Miami Dade College Reaffirms Controversial Land Gift for Trump Presidential Library in Downtown Miami.

360 Raw Magazine Staff.

Miami, FL — Miami Dade College (MDC), Florida’s largest public university, voted unanimously on Tuesday to once again approve the transfer of a prime public lot valued at more than $300 million for the construction of former President Donald Trump’s official presidential library.

The Board of Trustees endorsed the donation of a 2.63-acre parcel (about 10,650 square meters) adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower in downtown Miami. The decision followed a four-hour session marked by heated debate, in which activists denounced the project as excessive and an “insult” to immigrants.

Legal Background
The board had already approved the transfer on September 23, 2025, but was forced to redo the vote after a lawsuit filed by local historian Marvin Dunn, who accused MDC of violating Florida’s Sunshine Law by failing to give proper public notice.

The new vote, 8–0, is intended to shield the college from litigation, though Dunn vowed to continue his legal fight. A judge has scheduled a hearing for August 3, 2026.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has sided with MDC in the dispute.

Reactions
Dunn declared during the session: “No president should be given this land. If they think this sham meeting will end my lawsuit, they are wrong. We’re just getting started.”

Activists complained that the meeting was not livestreamed, unlike previous sessions, and that public comment was restricted.

Civil groups such as The Miami Freedom Project argue the donation is a misuse of taxpayer assets and a symbolic affront, since the Freedom Tower historically welcomed Cuban refugees fleeing Fidel Castro’s regime.

A Bendixen & Amandi International poll conducted in November 2024 found that 74% of Miami-Dade voters oppose the land transfer.

Supporters’ View
Proponents highlight that this would be the first presidential library in Florida, home to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate since he changed his residence from New York in 2019.

Evan Power, chairman of the Florida Republican Party, praised the project: “Having President Trump’s presidential library in Miami is an honor. It will strengthen the city by boosting tourism, driving economic development, and offering valuable historical and educational resources.”

The Trump Presidential Library Foundation, led by Eric Trump, is expected to oversee the project, which supporters say could become a major tourist attraction.

Symbolism of the Site
The Freedom Tower, a National Historic Landmark, processed thousands of Cuban exiles in the 1960s and 1970s. Critics argue that placing Trump’s library—given his hardline immigration policies—next to this monument undermines its legacy.

Trump Insists U.S. Attacks in Venezuelan Territory Will Begin “Soon” and Warns Countries Trafficking Drugs to the U.S.

Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump reiterated on Tuesday that U.S. military strikes against drug cartels inside Venezuelan territory will begin “very soon,” following recent operations against boats in the Caribbean allegedly linked to narcotrafficking. He also warned that the same consequences await any country that produces or traffics drugs into the United States.

Last week, the president had already mentioned that U.S. forces would act “very soon” on Venezuelan soil against suspected traffickers, and he advised pilots and airlines to consider Venezuelan airspace “completely closed.”

A strike inside Venezuela would fall under the Pentagon’s operation Southern Spear, which so far has destroyed more than twenty vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific, killing over 80 alleged traffickers in extrajudicial actions.

Trump’s Warning to Other Countries
Trump cautioned that any nation producing and trafficking drugs into the U.S. “is subject to attacks,” suggesting that Colombia could also be included in upcoming ground operations.

“I’ve heard that Colombia, the country of Colombia, produces co***ne. They have manufacturing plants, right? And then they sell us co***ne. But yes, anyone who does that and sells it to our country is subject to attacks, not necessarily just Venezuela,” he said.

In October, the Republican also leveled harsh criticism at his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, whom he labeled a “drug trafficking leader,” suspending U.S. aid to Bogotá over what he described as Petro’s failure to act against cartels.

Pentagon Defends Caribbean Strikes
Meanwhile, Pentagon spokesperson Kingsley Wilson defended the legality of U.S. attacks on boats in the Caribbean, arguing that those on board “are terrorists” already identified by intelligence teams.

Kristi Noem Urges Trump to Ban Travel to the U.S. from Nations Sending “Invaders”

360 Raw Magazine Staff
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said Monday that she met with President Donald Trump to recommend a complete travel ban on individuals coming from countries she claims have sent “foreign invaders” into American territory, though she did not specify which nations.

“I just met with the President. I recommend a total travel ban on all countries that have been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and welfare addicts,” Noem wrote in a post on X.

She added:

“Our forefathers built this nation with blood, sweat, and an unshakable love for freedom—not so that foreign invaders could massacre our heroes, drain our hard-earned tax dollars, or steal benefits owed to Americans. We don’t want them. Not a single one.”

Halt on Afghan Immigration Procedures
Noem’s remarks came after an Afghan immigrant opened fire last week in Washington on two members of the National Guard, killing one of them.

In response, Trump announced that all asylum applications are frozen until stricter vetting standards are implemented. He also suspended immigration procedures for Afghan

nationals, including those who had worked alongside U.S. forces.

Trump further threatened to permanently block immigration from what he called “Third World countries,” though he did not specify which states.Previous Travel Restrictions
In June 2025, the Trump administration approved a total travel ban affecting citizens of:

Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

Additionally, a partial suspension of visas was imposed on citizens of:

Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.

Summary: Kristi Noem’s call for a sweeping travel ban underscores the Trump administration’s increasingly hardline stance on immigration and national security. The proposal, triggered by a deadly attack in Washington, could escalate diplomatic tensions and faces potential legal challenges, as previous bans did.

Starbucks to Pay $35.5 Million in Historic New York Labor Rights Settlement.

New York City and Starbucks announced Monday a landmark agreement under which the coffee giant will pay a total of $35.5 million to more than 15,000 employees whose work hours were cut and schedules changed without the legally required advance notice.

According to a statement from City Hall, Starbucks violated the Fair Workweek Law, marking the largest worker protection settlement in New York City’s history.

The company will also pay $3.4 million in fines imposed by the city.

Findings of the Investigation
A multi-year investigation by the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) revealed that Starbucks committed over half a million violations of the law since 2021.

The violations occurred across more than 300 stores, where thousands of workers were illegally denied stable and predictable schedules.

Employees were also denied the right to work additional hours and earn more pay.

What the Law Requires
The Fair Workweek Law, in effect since 2017, requires fast-food and retail employers to:

Provide predictable and stable schedules.

Give at least 14 days’ notice before making changes.

Offer extra hours to current employees before hiring new staff.

Worker Reaction
Starbucks barista Kai Fritz said: “When this company cuts our hours, understaffs our stores, and undermines our union, it makes it harder for us to do our jobs and create that great

customer experience.”

The union Starbucks Workers United, which has staged strikes nationwide, hailed the settlement as a major victory for workers.

Broader Impact.

Mayor Eric Adams and DCWP Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga emphasized that the settlement sets a precedent for corporate accountability in New York.

The case is expected to strengthen union efforts and increase pressure on Starbucks, which continues to face labor disputes across the United States.

12/01/2025

The White House confirmed that a second U.S. strike against a narco-boat in the Caribbean killed survivors of the initial bombing, while exonerating Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, as Congress opens investigations into a possible war crime.

360 Raw Magazine Staff

Context of the attack
On September 2, 2025, U.S. forces struck a vessel suspected of drug trafficking in international waters in the Caribbean.

According to The Washington Post and later confirmed by the White House, a second strike targeted the survivors of the first attack.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted the operation was “in conformity with the law of armed conflict” and emphasized that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth did not issue the direct order.

Chain of command responsibility.

The administration stated that Admiral Frank M. “Mitch” Bradley, then commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, ordered the second strike in “self-defense.”

Hegseth had previously authorized Bradley to conduct “kinetic strikes” against vessels linked to narcotrafficking, but was cleared of direct responsibility for the decision to fire on survivors.

The official statement stressed that President Donald Trump and Hegseth had established that narcoterrorist groups designated as foreign terrorist organizations are legitimate targets for lethal force under the laws of war.

Congressional oversight
The incident has triggered accusations of a potential war crime and opened a bipartisan front of scrutiny in Congress.

Key committees have requested information from the Pentagon and are preparing hearings to determine whether the strike violated the Geneva Conventions and other international norms.

Lawmakers from both parties agree the operation raises serious questions about proportionality and legality in the administration’s counternarcotics campaign.

Strategic implications.

The strike is part of the Trump administration’s broader offensive against drug trafficking in the Caribbean and Venezuela, which includes the deployment of eight warships and more than 10,000 troops.

By designating narcotraffickers as “narcoterrorists,” the administration applies combat rules normally reserved for armed conflicts, expanding the military’s scope of action.

Yet, international law experts warn that targeting survivors could amount to an extrajudicial ex*****on, intensifying debate over the legal limits of the counternarcotics strategy.

In summary: The U.S. acknowledged striking survivors of a narco-boat in the Caribbean, placing responsibility on Admiral Frank Bradley while exonerating Secretary Pete Hegseth. Congress is investigating whether the operation constitutes a war crime, as the White House defends its legality under the doctrine of combat against narcoterrorist organizations.
