The brakes make a horrifying grinding metal sound when I use them," the owner complained right after a shop service. As soon as I took off the caliper, I couldn't believe my eyes. The mechanic installed one of the brake pads completely backward! The thick steel backing plate was grinding directly against the brake rotor, while the friction material was facing outward. An amateur mistake that forced the owner to buy not just new pads, but a brand new brake rotor as well.

The bike kept shutting off on the highway. The shop charged $150 for "electrical system diagnostics and wiring repair". The truth? After replacing the battery last week, they simply forgot to tighten the positive (+) terminal bolt. Road vibrations caused the loose cable to lose connection for a fraction of a second, entirely killing the engine. A single turn of a screwdriver was the real fix, but they billed it as a major ECU failure.

"Full front suspension service" was the bill this rider paid. The mechanic took the cash, changed the fork oil, but when reassembling the front end, he forgot to torque down the upper triple clamp bolts. As a result, during the first hard braking, the right fork tube physically slid 1 inch upward through the clamp. This completely destroys the handling geometry and can cause a severe speed wobble.

I need some help diagnosing an issue with my engine. When I start the bike in the morning (cold start), a thick cloud of light blue smoke comes out of the exhaust, smelling strongly of burning oil. This smoke completely disappears after about 2 minutes once the engine warms up, and it doesn't smoke at all for the rest of the day, no matter how hard I ride. Does this indicate worn valve stem seals leaking oil into the cylinder overnight, or are my piston rings starting to fail?

I need your opinion. Yesterday I hit a really harsh pothole, hard enough to feel a severe bottoming-out clunk in the handlebars. This morning, I noticed the left front fork tube is completely covered in fresh, clean hydraulic oil that has leaked all the way down near the brake caliper. Did the extreme pressure blow the rubber fork seals out, or could the chrome tube itself be bent/scratched, allowing oil to bypass? Can I ride it safely to the shop like this, or do I risk contaminating my brake pads and losing all stopping power?

Guys, this electrical issue is driving me crazy. I bought a brand new battery last week because the bike wouldn't start. It fired up perfectly, I took a long ride, and parked it. Two days later, the battery is completely dead again, not even the dash lights turn on. I jump-started it and tested it with a multimeter: at idle it only reads 12.1 Volts, and when I rev it, it drops to 11.8 Volts instead of climbing. Is the Stator burnt out, or is the Voltage Regulator/Rectifier dead? How can I test them separately?

Another amateur bodywork job. The gas tank metal had surface rust. The shop simply sprayed a thick coat of gloss paint and body filler right over it without grinding the rust down to bare metal. Within a few months, the rust continued to spread underneath, creating these raised, ugly bubbles that are destroying the entire paint job. A cheap repair that costs double to fix correctly.

Painting an engine block without using High-Temp thermal paint. The mechanic used a basic spray can to 'refresh' the engine's look before selling. As soon as the engine reached operating temperature (over 100°C), the paint immediately started bubbling, peeling, and emitting a toxic burnt chemical smell. Now the owner has to pay for full sandblasting to clean this mess.

Maximum laziness. The owner sent the bike in for a professional matte black frame and engine paint job. Instead of stripping the parts as required, the shop simply masked the bike and spray-painted everything fully assembled. They painted directly over the electrical wiring harness, rubber coolant hoses, and stainless steel bolts. This not only looks awful but makes future maintenance completely impossible.

I installed a brand new carburetor rebuild kit with original gaskets," the mechanic said, charging $120. But the bike started leaking fuel again the next day. When the owner opened the float bowl, he found the mechanic had simply reused the old, flattened rubber gasket and smeared it with cheap red silicone, which dissolves instantly in gasoline. A dangerous, amateur job that risks a fire.

A question for those who really understand electronic braking systems. I just pulled the bike out for a mountain ride. Usually, the yellow ABS warning light turns off as soon as I pass 5 mph, but today it has stayed on solidly the whole time. I tried turning the bike off and on, and even wiped the wheel speed sensors, but the issue persists. I know the electronic ABS assist is likely disabled, but my question is: are my standard hydraulic brakes still 100% safe and functional, or does this electronic fault risk locking up the calipers unexpectedly while riding? Should I cancel today's trip?

Can someone help me decode this issue? I just swapped out the original exhaust for an aftermarket slip-on to get a better sound. As soon as I started it up, this orange "FI" (Fuel Injection / Check Engine) warning light came on. The bike seems to idle fine, but the light won't go off. Is this a serious risk to the engine's lifespan? Do I absolutely need to take it to a shop for an ECU remap, or is it safe to keep riding like this without burning the exhaust valves from running too lean? What are your experiences with this?
