Wow— 2025
Montana. Ice-cold roller skates. Birthdays.
Taking too many pictures. Finding pictures that belonged to my family.
Vinyl spinning. Kisses and hugs.
16mm short films. Dancing under a disco ball. Talking nonsense. Ballet, swimming, learning other art forms.
Rock, paper, scissors. Art. Gymnastics. Zine making.
Being a camera. Walking to the beach.
Watching a fire burn. Eating ice cream. Road trips. (Spain, France and Texas)
Talking to my dog—all the time.
Dessert. More ice cream. Looking at pictures.
Remembering those we lost. Trying to give lectures.
Watching more 16mm short films. Looking at vernacular photography.
Sitting inside my own personal archive. Finding lost memory cards from my honeymoon, graduation, aunts wedding.
Trying to survive in different community spaces without really knowing what I’m doing.
Going far: Paris, Spain, Montana.

That’s the list. That’s what 2025 sort of looked like.
Thank you—to everyone who made it special.
I hope, in some way, I made it special for you too.

HOMEVIDEO WITH IPHONE: 🏡📱
Hey there!

My name is Melissa. I am like a mixed tape from the 90’s, I live in sunny Miami. ✨☀️

I am a photographer, a photo instructor, and a mother. Currently, I work at two elementary schools with students from 2nd through 6th grade, and I also photograph events, family portraits, and celebrations. I work with both natural and artificial light, but I also dedicate time to my personal projects: where I experiment freely with film, different cameras, and my children as my main subjects! Photography, for me, is not about following rules, but about exploring life as it is.

I wear many hats 🎩 artist, photographer, teacher, mother: and I wouldn’t want to give up any of them. That’s why I’m inviting you and your children to join my photography program. I will be teaching here at a school on Wednesday afternoons, and I hope more students will enroll.

This program is special because it is:
• Hands-on
• Project-based
• Skill-focused

As a mother, my biggest concern is helping children gain skills that will matter in an unpredictable, fast-paced future (skills that cannot be replicated by machines, only by us) . Photography combines art and science, and through it, children learn to see, think, and express themselves in unique ways.

This is not about brainwashing or pressure: it’s simply an invitation to join me on this adventure of learning photography basics, building creativity, and discovering the power of images.
