Before going to bed tonight, I want to honor my spiritual covering, my husband. I asked him the other night ā€œwhat fills your cup babe?ā€ and one of his top responses was ā€œserving others and helping people feel comfortableā€ and today I saw that in action again.

He invited different moms in our immediate family over our house and created a space for the kids to play outside, planned and executed the entire menu so none of the moms had to worry, and told me to relax and enjoy and meant it. It was hard for me to realize at first that a good spiritual covering in marriage wasnā€™t a mystical spiritual experience of supernatural anointing but more so seen in the consistent daily actions of a man who cares. A good covering reflects the heart of Christ and is rooted in love expressed in humble acts of service. It feels like safety, security, respect and belonging while also being committed enough to call you out and higher in love.

It looks like making you a cup of coffee, keeping a space tidy because you feel too sick to clean, buying you your fave snack, speaking kindly to you, praying for you when you feel weak, correcting you with respect and love, laughing with you about the most mundane things.

I didnā€™t grow up seeing a Godly marriage so, for me, being loved this way is a miracle. I love you

Coffee dates are fun, cute aesthetic photos together are cute, trips are specialā€¦but who can go to WAR with you? This last year showed me who would go to war for me and many came to show up for me again last night to celebrate my birthday! I canā€™t express my full gratitude in words but I hope to be like so many of the women who surround me someday!

I survived this last year because of the women(some present and some not pictured) who prayed for me and are believing with me!!! yesterday (although it was a complete surprise to me) felt like a miracleā€¦like a seal on my heart that a season of grief is ending and a new garden of hope is flourishing. shout out to my husband and my beautiful sister and amazing circle who put this together without me knowing! Iā€™m undone and so humbled. Jesus is so kind and we donā€™t deserve it but Heā€™s that good!!!
