Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson fired back at President Donald Trump after Trump called him “incompetent.”

During a press conference, Johnson was asked about Trump’s criticism. He responded by accusing the president of being intimidated by the “intellectual prowess of Black men” and said Trump resorts to “petite and puerile” remarks because, in Johnson’s words, “he’s small.”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised Minnesota residents who have been protesting federal immigration enforcement actions, describing them as people standing up for their neighbors and communities.

In a post on X, Clinton wrote:

“In Minnesota, scores of ordinary people are bravely looking out for their neighbors, defending their communities, and protesting lawless violence. They are the best of America. Here's how to stand with them.”

President Trump shared a report stating that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is conducting an ongoing investigation related to Rep. Ilhan Omar.

The report stems from an ICE response to a Freedom of Information Act request. The agency declined to release records concerning longstanding, unproven allegations of immigration fraud, citing a legal exemption for information tied to “ongoing enforcement proceedings.”

However, no formal charges or deportation proceedings have been filed against Omar, according to the report.

Nobel Prize-winning author Olga Tokarczuk has long been one of Poland’s most influential—and controversial—public intellectuals, particularly because of her progressive views on multiculturalism, migration, and the country’s approach to its own history.

In a striking interview, Tokarczuk reflected on Poland’s cultural and demographic future, saying:

“In Poland, the streets are white. Everyone looks the same, everyone speaks the same language. Poland is currently condemning itself to being a passive witness to the great civilizational processes that are coming. By not entering this current, we are even more deaf, even more mute, and we see very little. This is terrifying.”

Her comments have once again sparked debate over national identity, immigration, multiculturalism, and Poland’s place in a rapidly changing world.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) addressed accusations that Democratic rhetoric is contributing to political violence during an interview on The Breakfast Club.

Appearing on the popular radio show, Crockett pushed back against criticism from political opponents who argue that Democrats have used inflammatory language that could encourage violence.

Defending her own remarks, Crockett said she speaks “the truth” and “facts” but has never made statements intended to provoke violence. She then challenged her critics to produce evidence, saying she had “never said anything to invoke violence” and calling on them to “find a clip of a Democrat invoking violence.”

🤣 West Hartford, Connecticut, Board of Education Vice Chair LaToya Yagaloff is facing backlash after a video resurfaced showing her suggesting the district consider financial incentives for Black and brown teachers and administrators.

In the clip, Yagaloff asks whether there are financial incentives for Black and brown educators, arguing that being a minority educator in the district can come with an “extra burden” and saying the issue should be considered financially: “We got money.” The remarks have sparked heated debate online over whether compensation should ever be tied to race. West Hartford Public Schools lists Yagaloff as the board's current vice chair.

🔥 MAJOR TAX POLICY CHANGE TARGETS REFUNDABLE CREDITS

On August 19, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS unveiled proposed regulations that would restrict undocumented immigrants from receiving the refundable portions of certain individual income tax credits.

The proposal could save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars to as much as $3 billion annually, according to government estimates and media reports.

The restrictions would apply to four major tax benefits: the Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), American Opportunity Tax Credit, and Adoption Tax Credit.

Under the proposal, Treasury would classify the refundable portions of these credits as “federal public benefits” under a 1996 welfare law. Eligibility would therefore be limited to U.S. citizens, nationals, and certain “qualified aliens.”

The proposal is likely to fuel another debate over immigration, taxpayer dollars, and access to federal benefits.

Retired U.S. Navy Admiral William H. McRaven sharply criticized Donald Trump in an open letter published as an opinion piece in The Washington Post.

Responding to Trump’s decision to revoke former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance, McRaven defended Brennan’s character and questioned the broader implications of the move.

In the letter, McRaven accused Trump’s leadership of damaging America’s reputation, dividing the country, and setting a troubling example for future generations. He also challenged Trump to hold himself to the same standard by voluntarily giving up his own security clearance.

The powerful criticism from one of America’s most respected military leaders quickly drew attention, adding another prominent voice to the debate over Trump’s leadership and treatment of former intelligence officials.

Attorney Sidney Powell sparked controversy after stating that there should be “NO accommodations for Muslims,” accusing Muslims broadly of seeking to “destroy all that is America” and calling for their deportation.

Her remarks were posted on X in response to criticism of Houston Mayor John Whitmire for defending Muslim foot-washing stations in restrooms at Houston’s airport.

The comments have drawn attention to the broader debate over religious accommodations, constitutional protections, and the treatment of Muslim communities in the United States.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth sparked widespread backlash after using an anti-trans slur during a speech at the Iowa State Fair on August 17, 2026.

“[Quote omitted],” Hegseth said while discussing training at the Department of War, prompting national media coverage and criticism over his language.

The remarks were later discussed on CNN, where Jake Tapper and political strategist Shermichael Singleton agreed that, regardless of political differences or personal views, people should be treated with dignity and respect.

What do you think? Do you agree with Hegseth’s approach, or do you align more with CNN’s perspective that respectful language should be used when discussing transgender people? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
