Master L**e Tech here. I did injectors on this customer’s car yesterday and everything was perfectly fine when it left, but apparently 20 minutes later the whole engine bay randomly caught on fire on the highway. Firefighters came out and told the customer it looked like an “electrical fire,” which pretty much proves this had absolutely NOTHING to do with the injectors I just installed because injectors are part of the fuel system, not the electrical system. So technically I should be able to tell the customer this isn’t my responsibility and they need to take it up with Toyota or their insurance company, correct? They’re already talking about having someone investigate it because it happened immediately after my repair, but timing does not equal responsibility. I also don’t have business insurance because I’ve never needed it and I’m not paying hundreds of dollars a month just because something MIGHT happen. I’ve done plenty of injector jobs and this is the first one that caught fire, which statistically proves my workmanship isn’t the problem. Just trying to figure out the most professional way to explain this before they start trying to blame the Master L**e Tech for an unrelated electrical malfunction.

Just received my 18TH ticket for my “SOVEREIGN CITIZEN” plate and at this point I’m convinced these officers seriously need to educate themselves on the Constitution before pulling people over.

I explained very clearly that I was NOT DRIVING. I was TRAVELING in my private conveyance. Driving is a COMMERCIAL activity performed for compensation. I wasn’t hauling freight, operating a taxi, or making money, therefore I was simply exercising my constitutional RIGHT TO TRAVEL.

My Yaris is PRIVATE PROPERTY. I paid for it with PRIVATE FUNDS, which means the State of Texas has absolutely no authority to force me into a commercial registration contract just because I choose to travel on roads that MY TAXES helped pay for.

The officer kept asking for a “driver license” and “registration.” I politely explained that those requirements only apply to people who voluntarily enter into commerce with the state. I have entered into NO CONTRACT with the DMV and you cannot force someone into a contract without their consent. That is basic contract law.

Then he said my PRIVATE plate “isn’t recognized by Texas.” Recognized by WHO? I recognize it. It clearly identifies the automobile as PRIVATE, NON-COMMERCIAL PROPERTY and NOT FOR HIRE. I don’t need the government’s permission to identify my own property.

I also informed him that the Constitution is the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND, meaning a state transportation code cannot magically override my constitutional rights just because somebody printed it in a book.

He still wrote the ticket, so I signed it “WITHOUT PREJUDICE UCC 1-308” because I DO NOT CONSENT to their jurisdiction and I refuse to surrender my common-law rights.

Now apparently I have to go back to the Collin County courthouse AGAIN. That’s fine. Ticket #18 might finally be the one where a judge actually reads the Constitution instead of pretending Texas Transportation Code outranks it.

I’ve been looking into this and I’m about 99% convinced there are PROFESSIONAL TRAFFIC CREATORS being paid to purposely slow down highways during peak hours. These people get assigned certain stretches of highway, get in separate lanes, and drive 10-15 under the speed limit next to each other so nobody can pass. From what I understand they’re compensated based on how many miles of congestion they create because longer backups supposedly reduce the average speed of traffic and make accident statistics look better. Think about it. How many times have you sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic for 30 minutes expecting a wreck or construction, then suddenly traffic opens up and there is NOTHING THERE? Exactly. You just passed the paid traffic control vehicles. I watched three of them doing 58 mph side by side in a 70 today with probably two miles of cars backed up behind them and completely open highway ahead. That doesn’t happen naturally. I’m starting to write down license plates because if my tax dollars are paying people to intentionally make me late for work, I want some answers.

I decided to try the dealership for an oil change for the first time because everyone always says “dealer service is better” and somehow I ended up with a $368.82 quote for pouring 5 quarts of oil into a 2018 Highlander. Am I missing something here or did crude oil personally get delivered from the Middle East in an armored convoy because of the war in Iran?

I genuinely thought oil changes were like $60–100 max but apparently dealerships now think every vehicle requires a Formula 1 pit crew, a spiritual consultation, and a ceremonial gasket replacement blessed by Toyota engineers. The labor alone is over $250 to unscrew one bolt and replace a filter. At this point I’m expecting the technician to hand polish every molecule of 0W20 before it enters the engine.

And before anyone says “just do it yourself” that’s not the point. I’m trying to understand how we went from “basic maintenance” to “small personal loan approval.” For $368 this thing better leave with an engine rebuild, alignment, tire rotation, and complimentary shoulder massage in the waiting room.

I genuinely do not understand how replacing a cam and lifters on a 2016 Silverado somehow turned into a TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLAR repair bill. This is exactly why people stop trusting dealerships. I specifically told them I ONLY want factory GM parts because all these aftermarket cams and custom tunes are guaranteed to blow the truck up in 6 months, idle rough, destroy reliability, and turn the engine into a ticking time bomb.

But somehow the dealership looked at that request and decided my truck apparently needs the financial equivalent of open heart surgery. Over $5,700 in LABOR to swap a camshaft? Are they rebuilding the engine with diamond coated tools while a team of engineers from GM headquarters supervises the operation? It’s a 5.3 Silverado not a Bugatti Chiron.

And everybody keeps saying “just put a performance cam in it while it’s apart” absolutely not. I’m not trying to turn my daily driver into some lopey sounding gas guzzling race truck that stalls at stoplights and explodes because some YouTube mechanic said tunes are “safe.” Factory parts exist for a reason. GM engineered the truck perfectly from the factory before the AFM ruined everything.

At this point I honestly think dealerships see “AFM failure” and immediately start calculating how many boat payments they can squeeze out of one repair ticket.

Master L**e Tech here. Everybody kept telling me I needed to spend almost $700 on a “professional” lift kit, but I’m not paying $700 for some pieces of metal and bolts when I can fabricate the exact same thing myself for about $38. 😂 All a lift kit does is move the suspension down from the factory mounting point, so I made these extension brackets, grabbed some Grade 8 hardware, and gained almost 4 inches of lift. Literally does the SAME EXACT THING. Before everyone starts crying about “suspension geometry” and “engineering,” remember I’ve been doing oil changes professionally for almost 3 years. If anything, mine is stronger because I used THREE bolts instead of whatever the engineers thought was necessary. Took it up to 75 mph afterward and the steering wheel only shakes a little bit, which tells me everything seated correctly. Some of y’all really need to stop wasting money just because something comes in a fancy box. $700 saved. Master L**e Tech engineering wins again.

I’m so tired of school buses thinking they own the entire road. I’m sitting here with places to be, bills to pay, and responsibilities, and this thing just slams on the brakes in the middle of traffic like everyone else’s schedule suddenly stops mattering. And don’t even start with the little stop sign that flips out of the side… since when does a piece of sheet metal get to override an entire roadway? If I stopped my truck in the middle of the street and held up traffic because someone needed to walk across the road, I’d get a ticket, but apparently a yellow paint job makes it completely acceptable. There has to be a better system than bringing every car in both directions to a standstill every few minutes while one kid slowly walks to the shoulder. Ridiculous.

Advanced L**e tech here and I decided to take on a Sub Frame replacement from the main shop to prove to the master techs that I’m capable of doing more than just oil changes but when I went to install the new sub frame I installed the bolt using my 1/2 Milwaukee impact to start it and it was going in really slow so I just kept tightening it but then it wouldn’t turn anymore and so when I backed it out all the threads are missing and I can no longer thread the bolt into the body of the car. Is there any way to fix this? I don’t want the shop foreman to find out I took a ticket without asking unless I did the job correctly but now the master techs and foreman aren’t going to believe in me because I truly feel that I am the best mechanic in the shop but they are just holding me back. I made one little mistake so what? It’s not like the car is totaled. Please let me know how you guys would tackle this.
