When we forgive, we stop rigidly identifying others by their undesirable behavior. Without denying anything, we open our heart and mind wide enough to see the deeper truth of who they are. We see their goodness. When we do, our hearts naturally open in love.

Every day I’m inspired by people I know and strangers I meet. Sometimes all it takes is a smile or a simple gesture. Other times I feel inspired by a story of love, family, or community. What will be the story of the time we’re living in now, I wonder? Will it be the rise of AI at the expense of our humanity? Or will it be the rise of our humanity in the age of AI? I see glimpses of the latter everywhere I look: a story of how we almost lost our humanity, but then found our way back to one another and back home to ourselves.

Letting go of our stories and resting in the here and now is a direct path to freedom. Being in the reality of the present allows us to reclaim our life from a place of love and spaciousness which can hold it all. 🤍

No matter how painful or beautiful, exalted or difficult, each thought, feeling, or experience arises and passes in this dance of form. What we can do is learn to rest in pure loving awareness beyond these ever-present cycles. This space is our true home. Reside here. ☯️

What we seek is what we are

One just never knows who may appear in the morning at Patch!

Alas this day dawned with the visiting monks from Temple here in Homestead, their saffron robes, sandal-clad feet, serene presences graced our land.

They were in awe of the way we have created “the dharma as a garden” with deep homage to the Buddhist wisdom tradition and the many ways this way of practice is rooted to the trees, finding awakening by sitting beneath the Bodhi Tree.

They sang blessings upon Patch beneath the Peace Tree, noting our Tibetan Peace Plaque gifted to us by back in March.

And we laughed!

Language can create such funny moments when understanding the words is challenging, but the bright eyes and kind-heartedness of Presence breaks through.

May all beings be free from suffering.
May all beings experience ease in the mind, body & spirit.
May healthfulness and lovingkindness be our way with one another.
May Peace be present amongst us all.
