3 things I REALLY wish someone told me before I started creating content š¤
1. UGC is way harder than social media makes it seem.
Before I started, I kept seeing creators saying things like ājust make a portfolio, post videos, and brands will start paying you.ā And while that can happen eventually⦠nobody talks enough about how much there is to learn behind the scenes. Strategy, lighting, editing, storytelling, hooks, outreach, analytics, brand communication, scripting⦠itās a LOT š
2. Slow months are normal.
It took me 3 months to get my first paid collaboration. And honestly, even now there are still months where opportunities feel slower than Iād like. But Iāve learned that consistency matters more than motivation. Even during slow periods, I keep creating, posting, and improving my content.
3. A tripod and phone arenāt always enough.
Yes, technically you can start with just that. But investing in your content genuinely makes a difference. A good mic, better lighting, a stable tripod, lenses, even a small monitor to see yourself while filming⦠all those little things can elevate your content SO much and make the process easier too.
At the end of the day, content creation has amazing moments and really frustrating ones too. But even with the slow days, no brand deals, or creative burnout sometimes⦠I still donāt regret starting. Creating content has brought me opportunities, confidence, and experiences I never expected š¤
