Global Combat Amateurs is looking to change the way young fighters make the journey from the amateurs to the professional ranks.

Founded by promoter Nelson Lopez Jr., GCA isn't simply putting on amateur fights — the goal is to give developing fighters a platform, visibility and the experience of competing in a professional-style environment while building toward the next level.

GCA's vision is to create an actual developmental system around amateur boxing: more opportunities to compete, more exposure for fighters and gyms, involvement from the local community, and ultimately a pathway for talented athletes who may otherwise struggle to get noticed.

And another opportunity is coming up. 👀🥊

We caught up with GCA ahead of their upcoming show to talk about what they're building and why the amateur level matters so much to the future of boxing.

These are the names fight fans might not know yet — but this is where tomorrow's professionals are being developed.

🔥 DOES BRYANT ACHESON DESERVE THE TITLE SHOT?

Bryant “Defiant” Acheson may have just made the loudest statement of his BKFC career.

In the main event of BKFC Fight Night Sturgis at the legendary Buffalo Chip, Acheson put Mike Jones OUT with a brutal right hand at 1:58 of the first round. Jones crashed face-first to the canvas, bringing an emphatic end to a fight that was supposed to test the top cruiserweight contender.

Instead, Acheson made it look like another warning to the division.

Acheson entered the fight 5-0 in bare-knuckle competition with 4 KOs and ranked #1 at cruiserweight. With Saturday night's knockout, his bare-knuckle résumé now stands at 6-0 with 5 KOs. BKFC's website was still displaying his pre-fight 5-0 record when checked, so the database has not yet caught up with the result.

And Acheson knew exactly what he wanted afterward.

🗣️ “Nobody can take my power, give me my title shot!”

That brings us to Alessio Sakara.

Sakara currently holds the BKFC Cruiserweight World Championship after defeating former champion Chris Camozzi by split decision over five rounds at BKFC 83 in Rome on October 25, 2025.

Now you have an undefeated #1 contender coming off a devastating main-event knockout openly demanding his opportunity at gold.

There is an important distinction: Acheson vs. Sakara has NOT been announced. This post isn't reporting that the fight is happening.

We're asking whether it should happen.

Acheson is 6-0. Five knockouts. Undefeated. Ranked #1. Coming off a first-round KO in a main event.

At some point, there's only one question left:

🔥 JOSH FREMD IS BUILDING SERIOUS MOMENTUM.

Josh Fremd picked up another statement victory at PFL Charlotte, stopping Jhony Gregory by TKO at 1:44 of the second round — and he had to fight through some adversity to get it done.

Gregory came out strong, pressured Fremd early and even threatened with a guillotine in the opening round. But Fremd survived, stayed composed and flipped the fight in Round 2. A huge overhand right rocked Gregory before Fremd poured on the pressure and forced the stoppage.

For Fremd, this is becoming one hell of a 2026.

Three fights. Three finishes. Two different combat sports.

After going 2-4 during his UFC run, Fremd has found new life outside the Octagon and is making a real push in the PFL middleweight division.

And there was plenty of movement at 185 pounds in Charlotte. Bryan Battle defeated Dalton Rosta by split decision in the main event, while Aaron Jeffery earned a unanimous decision over Josh Silveira.

Fremd's message after getting another finish?

“DON’T GET TOO COMFORTABLE.” 👀

With another PFL knockout on his résumé, Fremd may have just put the rest of the middleweight division on notice.
