Flagler Flavor Spotlight: 🇸🇻
We have been coming to El Atlakat since 1988, and it remains one of our favorite spots in Miami. This Little Havana classic serves authentic Salvadoran food every day, and the flavors have stayed true for decades.
From fried calamari to churrasco with casamiento (El Salvadoran rice and beans), every dish is satisfying. But the true showstopper is the pupusas. They are all excellent, especially the revueltas, and it is Flagler & Sixth's choice for the best pupusas in Miami.

The restaurant is small, with limited tables, but there are counter stools available. Parking is tight, although a private lot is located in the back. Inside it is lively, with music playing throughout the day. Although it is not a Cuban joint, the coffee is surprisingly good.

Another chapter in the Canes and Gators saga.
It used to be every year until Florida quit after 1987. Since then the rivalry only came in flashes. But the hatred never left.

And with no rematch planned, tonight’s winner holds bragging rights until these two line up again.

Happy birthday to the arm that rewrote the game

Never had a run game
Just a release that snapped like a mousetrap
In today’s NFL
He throws for 7,000 by midseason

If only he held the ball laces out
Ray Finkle makes the kick

Forever QB1
Forever ours

The Miami Dolphins begin another season today.

Somewhere in the bowels of history Shula’s whistle still echoes, Marino’s arm still fires, and that damn dolphin in the tank still splashes around like Miami already won something.

Half a century of heartbreak. Two trophies collecting dust.

And still, year after year, Miami drapes itself in aqua and orange like hope is a birthright.

Maybe this is the year, maybe it is not. But here we are again. Lined up, scarred and stubborn, daring to believe.

Miami vs. Notre Dame, you either lived it or you didn’t get it.

1985, 58–7. Gerry Faust run out the door.
1988, Cleveland Gary “fumbled” at the one.
1989, Miami snapped Notre Dame’s 23-game win streak in the Orange Bowl.

Lou Holtz crying about class. Jimmy Johnson counting scoreboards.

The hate was real, the swagger louder. For older Millennials and Gen X, this was never just football. It was Miami against the establishment, gold helmets against the guys your mom warned you about.

And while today’s generation scrolls through highlights, we still feel it in our bones. Because with Notre Dame, it’s never just a game.

Before Miami had a skyline, it had The Grove. Banyan roots, Bahamian settlers, and the oldest neighborhood in Miami.

Welcome to Sixth and the City, our journey through the neighborhoods that built Miami.

Coconut Grove is a place of heritage and identity. Its streets carry the stories of Bahamian settlers, its parks and bayfront keep the spirit of old Miami alive, and its heart still beats with a mix of history, community, and culture.

Scroll through the album and you will see it all. Banyan trees shading Main Highway, coral rock churches, seaplane legacies at Dinner Key, and the Grove’s modern heartbeat. This is the soul of original Miami. One Grove.
