Aeroseal

Aeroseal The U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. EPA, the California Ins Department of Energy (DOE).

The Aeroseal duct work sealing system was invented in 1994 by Dr. Mark Modera, a scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, a campus of the University of California in Berkeley. The Aeroseal process won the "Best of What's New" award from Popular Science magazine, and the "Energy 100" award from the U.S. The DOE also rated the Aeroseal duct sealing process as one of the 23 most beneficial

technologies available to American consumers that has come out since the agency was created. The Aeroseal air duct sealing system used a simple two-step process: diagnose and seal.

Last Friday, during the workday at Aeroseal headquarters, we welcomed Aeroseal families for our Kids Holiday Party. With games, a customizable hot chocolate bar, family photos, and a visit from Santa, it was a meaningful way to pause, connect, and celebrate together.

We want to sincerely thank our Aeroseal employees and the families who support them every day. The flexibility, encouragement, and understanding you provide make a real difference and help shape the people-first culture we’re proud to build at Aeroseal.

Moments like these reflect our belief that strong teams are supported not just at work, but by the families and communities behind them.

This week, our team is on site in Boston, working with our dealers to provide hands-on continuing education for large-scale commercial Aeroseal applications.

With the expertise of Rafael Perez, Senior Technical Trainer at Aeroseal, dealers completed installations at Boston Housing Authority apartments and townhomes, where the ductwork had already been sealed using mastic and gaskets, yet still did not pass the duct leakage test.

Aeroseal sealed the remaining hidden leaks and delivered the passing results.
By partnering with dealers in the field, we ensure they’re equipped with proven solutions that go beyond traditional methods and deliver measurable, verifiable performance—especially on projects where efficiency and accountability matter most.

Behind every housing project is a story about people, and why the details matter. Veterans Villages in Minnesota is one of those projects.

For many veterans, finding a place that truly feels like home is a meaningful turning point. That’s why this community was built with comfort, consistency, and long-term stability in mind.

Through a partnership with the First MN, MACV Assistance Council for Veterans , and , the homes were designed for lasting performance. Using AeroBarrier by Aeroseal, they were carefully sealed to reduce drafts, maintain steady indoor temperatures, and help keep energy use predictable through Minnesota’s changing seasons.

Aeroseal is proud to be part of a project that supports a fresh start through thoughtful building.

We’re two months away from Expo 2026—the biggest event in HVACR!

HVAC leaders are being asked to deliver better system performance, lower energy use, and measurable results. That’s where we come in. By sealing invisible duct leaks, we help systems hold static pressure to the space, improve airflow, and unlock deeper energy savings, without opening walls or ceilings.

📍Come and see us at Booth

Let’s talk performance, efficiency, and what’s possible when leakage isn’t part of the equation.

The Blower Door Setup Behind a 92% Reduction in Leakage!

Achieving airtightness at this level doesn’t happen by accident—it starts with a controlled, intentional setup.

Adam Koebel, Operations Manager at Aeroseal Canada, walks through the blower door configuration with Gary McCreadie from HVAC Know It All to take a closer look at the process and learn how setup supports consistent results. The home is pressurized to 100 pascals, with a blower door and construction heater working together to maintain temperature. Keeping the space above freezing is essential—cold conditions can cause the aerosolized sealant to freeze and impact performance.

This controlled approach is a key reason the project achieved a 92% reduction in leakage, delivering the consistent, repeatable airtightness builders need to hit their targets with confidence.

Winter weather puts your home to the test.

As temperatures drop, hidden air leaks let warm air escape, forcing heating systems to work harder and driving up energy bills.

Canary Media highlights how weatherization and air sealing keep heat inside and improve comfort during the winter months. That’s exactly what Aeroseal does: it seals hard-to-reach leaks inside ductwork and the building envelope, helping homes stay warmer, more efficient, and comfortable all season long.

A new ASHRAE Journal article by Mahmood Farzaneh Gord, Ph.D., Chief of Technology & Innovation at Aeroseal, and Mark Modera, the inventor behind Aeroseal’s breakthrough technology, shares eye-opening insights into the real cost of duct leakage, and provides a simplified energy model that turns complex data into actionable insights for property owners and energy engineers looking to boost efficiency and reduce operating costs.

The article identifies several mechanisms that drive energy and cost savings after duct sealing, including:
•Reduced fan power
•Reduced cooling and heating loads
•Lower reheat requirements in VAV (variable air volume) systems.
•Reduced peak electrical demand

Using an example of a New York City building with pre-seal leakage of 16%, the energy model proved out savings across these categories with results suggesting roughly 1% incremental energy savings for each percentage point of leakage sealed - representing substantial energy-saving potential for commercial buildings; especially where initial leakage is high.

Last week, the Aeroseal Sales Summit 2025 brought together our residential new construction, retrofit, and commercial construction teams for a week focused on alignment, growth, and meaningful collaboration.

Throughout the summit, we dug into strategic planning, participated in breakout sessions to sharpen our tools and processes, and heard valuable leadership insights that helped shape our direction for 2026.

What truly made the week stand out were the conversations and connections—colleagues from across the business coming together to share ideas, support one another, and strengthen the relationships that drive our success. It created a strong sense of unity and momentum for the year ahead.

Across every moment, one message was clear: our teams are united in our mission, energized for 2026, and ready to make an even bigger impact. Proud of our teams. Inspired by our people.

Most builders know how challenging it can be to control air leakage across different designs and job conditions. That’s why Gary McCreadie from Know It All joined Ian Walker, our National Sales and Marketing Manager in Canada, to take a closer look at how Aeroseal’s proven technology seals leaks from the inside.

This project achieved a 92 percent reduction in leakage, showing what tighter, more consistent results can mean for builders: dependable performance, simplified inspections, and systems that deliver the airflow they were designed for.

It was great having Gary on site for a hands-on look at and how our automated technology helps builders deliver reliable, repeatable airtightness on every build.
