1. Media contracting is a client facing role.

People who work on external communication projects, such as video and documentary-style media, work directly with clients or the beneficiaries of the client's products, services, or funding. Their impressions are critical. The possibility of expanding or generating new contracts increase when they like whom they are working with, in the field.

2. Life experience on set leads to success.

Traveling nationally or internationally with professional video equipment, creating quick on-site relationships, and convincing stakeholders to speak on camera isn't something you can learn in school. What would you do if customs held your camera at the airport in Ukraine? How are you making your way into a building that didn't expect you to show up with a camera, lights, and sound?

3. Business-minded contractors understand your big picture and don't suffer from the single-project syndrome.

Will this video have the possibility of getting nominated in a peer group, get shared by an influencer in your industry or lead to other earned media opportunities. It's everything; media, client relationships, audience trust, and creative sustainability and growth that lead to video ROI.
