This incident should serve as a warning to LNP officers who habitually place themselves in front of moving commercial vehicles with the intent of extorting drivers for bribes. It raises serious concerns about the officer’s mission or operation at the time. Why was he stationed alone at a checkpoint at 1:00 AM without backup from another LNP officer?

Equally troubling is the broader question: what is the purpose of these late-night checkpoints when it is evident that many of the officers assigned are not safeguarding lives but instead exploiting the very communities they are meant to protect? Contrary to the Inspector General’s claim, the LNP is not making sacrifices for the Liberian people. In fact, not a single incident is addressed without officers demanding bribes from victims. And when victims cannot meet those demands, officers often side with perpetrators, effectively trading away the rights of the victims.

Let’s be honest — too many Liberian lawmakers and officials are tied to the same drug problem people are protesting against. And truth is, protest alone won’t fix this crisis. It’s deeper than slogans. Bigger than marches. What Liberia needs is real change — in policies, in leadership, in community values, and in the hearts of our people.

Liberia has endured many periods of political tension throughout its history, but the current situation raises serious concerns. It leaves many of us questioning whether the actions of Joseph Boakai represent a deliberate political witch hunt or simply a failure of effective leadership.

The demolition of the CDC Headquarters symbolizes a profound weakness in the Joseph Boakai-led administration and undermines the very spirit of democracy. This act highlights the administration’s attempt to completely eradicate the CDC. However, this action only reinforces that the CDC remains a party of peace, unity, and resilience—one that has grown to become the greatest political party in Liberia.

Yes, power theft is a serious issue. It drains the resources of LEC and undermines the country’s energy infrastructure. But let’s be clear—this problem didn’t start with the citizens. It started with a broken system. A system that lacks proper policies, procedures, and protections. A system that allows criminals—some posing as LEC agents—to harass, extort, and brutalize innocent people.

It is challenging to comprehend certain African traditions, as some practices seem to perpetuate ignorance and keep generations in bo***ge. The ritual performed over the remains of the late Senator Prince Johnson exemplifies how some individuals, particularly those craving political power, are willing to compromise their integrity and that of future generations for temporary, illusory power. Furthermore, it underscored the futility of such rituals. While traditional leaders claim to transfer power from the deceased to the living, they often struggle with basic necessities, highlighting the broader issues of poverty in the region.

Thomas Yaya Nimely's eulogy at the funeral of the late Prince Y. Johnson highlighted the perceived weaknesses and deceptions of Joseph N. Boakai and his administration. It portrayed Joseph N. Boakai as a man who compromised his integrity to gain power.

The late Senator Prince Y. Johnson was instrumental in bringing three presidents into power, each of whom committed to not pursuing the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia—an institution seen as divisive and a means to impose modern slavery across Africa. Both former presidents Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and George Weah honored their promises, but the allegedly corrupt and inattentive Joseph N. Boakai did not, which ultimately led to the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson's death.

This should serve as a lesson to all Liberians: never undermine your enemies to the extent that you harm yourself. The late Senator Prince Y. Johnson distanced himself from former President George Weah, hoping the Rescue Mission would save him, but instead, it led to his early demise.
