We even do Green Screens!
We continue to have events here: Still Hartford Jazz Society's 'rain location,' videos of bands, documentaries, jam sessions with audience and even poker games!
We can now host your band and 30-40 of your best fans to do a live show with video & audio recording, and you will have an excellent media for your social media at virtually no cost.
Still a few tickets left for this Saturday's show. Email me at [email protected] for tix.
Live music in our Library Studio, livestreamed! If you want tickets please email me. Matt Chasen does a great job producing concerts, and we're happy to host. And excited to have Matt Dwonszyk back!
We have some amazing vintage drums, and some look better than they sound, like these 1920's and 1930's Chinese tacked toms. They always have a bird on one side and a dragon on the other.
We have an amazing variety of snare drums for your use! 1960's Ludwig Supraphonic and Super Sensitive, 1960's Slingerland, 1960's Gretsch, 1930's Ludwig with calfskin heads, 13" Remo conga snare, 13" Rogers 'pancake,' real glass, 1930's Black Beauty and more!
The Holy Grail of vintage snare drums: Ludwig Black Beauty (early 1930's), before & after. Why? It sounds as good as it looks!
Tune in 5-9PM for an assortment of the areas best musicians.

3. A cap of 20 patrons has been placed upon the proceedings, as a result of the rise in COVID numbers throughout Connecticut.

This Thursday Orquestra Afinke: AFINKE (pronounced ah-‘fin-keh) is a traditional Spanish slang term used to denote a group who plays together as a team. The 8-piece musical group is comprised of seasoned musicians, who after touring with many notables, decided to come together to share their talents of entertaining audiences and educating them about our Latin musical genre. Our band is highlighted not only for our musicality but also for our showmanship.
They've played at the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven, Norwalk Oyster Festival, Celebrate! West Hartford and Queens College Summer Festival Series to name a few. Their diverse repertoire includes Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Boleros, Plena, Latin jazz, among others.
Prepare to be amused and get ready to dance, because here comes Orquesta Afinke…
If rain, check https://www.facebook.com/CityArtsOffice after noon.
See you there!

The Hartford Jazz Society, the Middletown Commission on the Arts and The Library Studio are collaborating for a special edition of our virtual Monday Night Jazz series. This cross-county collaboration, entitled ‘Middletown on the Map,” presents great regional and national talent associated with the city of Middletown. The concerts are free via livestream on the Hartford Jazz Society page and feature artists associated with Middletown. The second concert will feature world renowned vibraphonist Jay Hoggard and his quartet, streaming live on Monday, May 10, 7:00-8:30PM.
Jay Hoggard has long ranked with the greatest vibraphone innovators. Jay’s music is positive, spiritual, uplifting, and happy. He masterfully draws on traditional and contemporary musical vocabulary to develop new direction for the vibraphone. Jay seamlessly blends jazz and gospel roots with African marimba rhythms. His performance repertoire represents the three B’s of the jazz tradition (Blues, Bop and Ballads) with original innovations. Joining Jay Hoggard will be James Weidman on piano, Yoron Israel on drums and Belden Bullock on bass.
Since June 2020, the Hartford Jazz Society has continued to present live jazz by streaming virtual concerts from the Library Studio. This includes their long running Paul Brown Monday Night Bushnell Park concert series and the virtual Monday Night Jazz series on a monthly basis. Their 60 Anniversary Concert and Fundraiser November 13 featured the Steve Turre Sextet. Turre has played with Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Carlos Santana, and Ray Charles. He has been trombonist for the Saturday Night Live band since 1985.
Coming up next Monday 5/10 - don't miss Jay Hoggard LIVE from our studio! We're looking forward to hosting this awesome virtual event presented by The Hartford Jazz Society and the Middletown Commission on the Arts🎼 Tune in!🎧
