Dear Friends:
Yesterday afternoon, I just "had" to leave the office so that my wife Dawn and I could hike up Talcott Mountain to Heublein Tower in Simsbury. It's a rigorous three-mile (round trip) hike that was well worth the effort. The weather and the views were spectacular!
My Dad was in the insurance business, and in the 1960s, Hartford was the "Insurance Capital of the World." (It still is in many ways.) In October of 1967, he was transferred to Hartford, and my parents settled on the Town of Simsbury as the place to finish raising us kids.
I've been hiking up Talcott Mountain ever since, for 58 years! Perhaps you've hiked there also. It's one of Connecticut's most profound "mountaintop experiences." Mountaintops give you unique vantage points to take a panoramic look at reality. To literally see the landscape from "higher ground."
So it is with the annual Celebrate Jesus Gala & Expo hosted by WIHS 104.9 FM, Connecticut's Christian media ministry for 24/7 hope and encouragement. Each year, hundreds of Connecticut Christians (pastors, church leaders, para-church ministry leaders, businesspeople, families, couples and individuals) "climb the mountain" to the Aqua Turf Club in Southington for a Spirit-led, Spirit-filled evening.
The Celebrate Jesus mountaintop experience includes:
--A unique panoramic view of displays by about 30 diverse Christian ministries from across the State.
--Powerful worship and fellowship with a diverse assembly of Christ-followers from across the State.
--An invigorating look at WIHS' past, present and future. The view ahead of our future is bright in Him!
--A fascinating glimpse of Connecticut's rich Christian heritage, including Rev. Thomas Ho**er, called "The Father of Connecticut," a founder of Hartford and Connecticut and the inspiration behind "The Fundamental Orders of Connecticut."
You'll drive away from the Aqua Turf Club inspired, encouraged, equipped and energized to keep on keeping on serving the Lord in the valleys of everyday life in this beautiful State. God loves Connecticut, and so do we!
Please join us!
Joyfully yours,
Drew
