Delaware Fishing Report 6/27/25. Be careful in the heat.

Fishing Report of Thursday, June 26, 2025.

The sudden onset of summer heat has been tough on anglers and fish. Croaker catches are increasing at the Woodland Beach Pier while white perch and catfish were still being caught from Augustine down to Woodland Beach and in the tidal creeks. Trout and summer flounder caught at Bowers Beach and at the bay reef sites. Spot, croaker and some kings were caught at Broadkill Beach. Anglers at the Cape Henlopen State Park Fishing Pier were mostly catching spot, croaker and kingfish while those kayaking around the pilings caught some nice flounder.

The action in the surf was mostly dogfish and skates.

The Indian River Inlet produced small striped bass, some blues and some sheepshead in the rocks. Flounder, including one over 8 lbs., have been caught in Indian River Bay.

Those fishing the inshore ocean are catching flounder and black sea bass but have to pick through a lot of small ones to get to the keepers.

The offshore ocean was producing yellowfin, bigeye and bluefin tuna.

In freshwater, a citation crappie was caught in Noxontown Pond and a citation snakehead was caught at Delaware City while anglers were still targeting blue catfish in the Nanticoke River and Broad Creek.

Stay hydrated and avoid heat stroke during this heat wave.

They are planning to fill in this body of water where myself and many others enjoy to go fishing. Please help and sign this petition. We are losing many places here in Delaware and around in other states to fish and to take the younger generation to fish.

Warriors on the Water Limited's seventh annual Armed Forces Day picnic will be held on May 17 at the Octorara Reservoir, with Jim Neary's Live Bait & Tackle sponsoring the event and providing fishing rods, tackle, live bait, lures, boats and kayaks for attendees. The picnic is for military members, veterans, law enforcement personnel, corrections officers, and first responders.

"We were trying to figure out what we could do for our veterans," Jim said. "I said, 'We are right here on the lake (Octoraro Reservoir); we should do something here.'"

Delaware Fishing Report 5/15/2024

Fishing Report for Thursday, May 15, 2025 .

Fishing the bays, tribs and ocean was much improved last week. While white perch and small striped bass were being caught at Woodland Beach and should be in the tribs soon, the best action was provided by black drum. Black drum up to 60 lbs. were caught from Slaughter Beach down to the Broadkill.

The surf has mostly been producing dogfish and skates with an occasional big bluefish or black drum.

The Indian River Inlet has been the striped bass hotspot with fish to 50 lbs. caught at the north end of the jetty. Keeper flounder were caught at Masseys Landing in the Inland Bays.

Those fishing the inshore ocean are catching bluefish, black drum and flounder.

In freshwater, big blue catfish were being caught in the Nanticoke River and Broad Creek, while white perch and crappie action has been good in several ponds.

The flounder are here for the catching if you use the right tackle.
