Introducing our new Spring intern, Janel Heasley!

Janel is a senior at Stevenson University, where she is finishing her degree in English Language and Literature. Janel's focus is mainly in creative writing and professional editing. She is the Prose Section Editor for the university's online literary magazine, The Greenspring Review. Janel is currently writing her first novel and hopes to finish it this year.

We are excited to have Janel work with us in hopes that it will continue to help guide her further in her degree and will give her a more hands on experience.

What is Workshop Live?:

Workshop Live is a workshop practice that we have discovered helps a playwright develop their piece more than a traditional workshop. We find well qualified actors to participate in these workshops to give life to your words. But we go a step further and livestream the workshop to world. We give the audience the chance to give feedback and offer suggestions.

What we expect from the Playwright?:

We want our playwrights to be as involved as they want to be. We typically use Backstage to find talent for our virtual workshops since we can search the globe to find the best person for the job, and we can add the playwright as a contributor if they would want to help in the final stages of casting.

How do I submit?

Please submit all plays via Submittable: https://theparagonjournal.submittable.com/submit

We are launching a new project!

Aftercare: A S*x Positive Journal brings a positive conversation around s*xuality and s*x. S*x positive involves having positive attitudes about s*x and feeling comfortable with one's own s*xual identity and with the s*xual behaviors of others, and destigmatizing s*x.

Hi Friends! Things are changing and we have some exciting news!

We have merged with The Pharmacy Theatre. They are going to continue the great work that we started. With the merger, we have made some changes. We will only be publishing two literary magazines (The Paragon Journal and The Martian Chronicle). But with the merger with the theatre, we are now a 501c3 nonprofit and are looking to expand our publications of novellas, plays, and chapbooks.

We are glad that many of you have stuck with us during this change, and all of us at the Paragon Press want to thank you for the journey.

This 4th of July please take a moment to listen to the words of Frederick Douglass spoken by his descendants.

Powerful doesn’t begin to describe it.

The U.S. celebrates this Independence Day amid calls for systemic reform. In this film, five descendants of Frederick Douglass read excerpts of his speech, "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"

What We Do

The Paragon Press started as a single literary magazine back in the Fall of 2015. But since then we have broaden our outlook on the literary world, and developed a business that helps bring the work of newer authors to the forefront. The Paragon Press started out of a need to help people by giving their hard work a place to live as well as show people that they are not alone in their pursuits.

We publish chapbooks, novellas, and anthologies. We have a full catalog of our published books on our website and even details about how you can submit your manuscripts. Besides these larger publications, we also publish several literary magazines.

The Paragon Journal is an online literary magazine that specializes in showcasing the work of new authors among established authors. We accept submissions year round, and would love to read your work.

The Martian Chronicle is scouting specifically for post-modernism, we are looking for artists, painters, poets, critiques, and photographers who wish to gain a strong voice in a medium whose resonation is not being heard. Many topics, subjects, and project productions are not reverberating among millennial, mainstream media.
