ESPN 100.9-FM is the radio flagship home of the Great Lakes Loons. The station was purchased by the Loons organization on March 25, 2008 from the Last Bastion Trust. The station was previously owned by Citadel Broadcasting, operating as a simulcast of classic rock station WILZ-FM. The Michigan Baseball Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that owns Dow Diamond, helped finance the purch
ase. The Foundation also funded the construction of the radio studio in the Dow Diamond press box, overlooking the baseball field, which was completed in January 2009. These steps, made by the Michigan Baseball Foundation, are consistent with the Foundation’s stated mission of promoting regional economic development. ESPN 100.9-FM carries ESPN Radio’s flagship weekday programs Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin (6-10am), featuring former star NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson; Greeny, with longtime ESPN radio and TV personality Mike Greenberg (10am-12pm), Bart & Hahn (12pm-2pm), featuring former NFL linebacker Bart Scott, and The Max Kellerman Show (2pm-3pm). ESPN 100.9-FM also carries The HUGE Show, hosted by Michigan’s premiere sports talk show host Bill Simonson, from 3-6pm. In addition to being the flagship station of the Great Lakes Loons, ESPN 100.9-FM serves as the home for the following properties:

Like the Loons, ESPN 100.9-FM operates as a non-profit organization. The radio station will provide an additional revenue stream for the Michigan Baseball Foundation, which along with the Loons has helped generate over $350,000 in charitable donations during the Loons first season. The station’s purchase also corresponds with the Foundation’s mission of promoting local economic development.

ESPN 100.9-FM (WLUN) is an award-winning 24/7 sports radio station. The station was purchased by MBF Enterprises on March 25, 2008 from the Last Bastion Trust. The station was previously owned by Citadel Broadcasting, operating as a simulcast of classic rock station WILZ-FM.

ESPN 100.9-FM carries ESPN Radio’s flagship weekday programs Golic & Wingo (6-10am), featuring former NFL lineman Mike Golic and NFL anchor Trey Wingo; The Dan Le Batard Show (10am-12pm), featuring Dan Le Batard and Jon “Stugotz” Weiner.
For six hours each weekday afternoon, ESPN 100.9-FM shifts to local sports talk. Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave airs from 12-3pm with longtime Detroit sports reporter Matt Shepard hosting his show from the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit. The HUGE Show, hosted by Michigan sports talk show host Bill Simonson, can be heard from 3-6pm.
In October 2015, the radio station began producing its own weekly show The Offseason Podcast hosted by Matt DeVries. He’s joined by Brad Tunney each week for a new episode which can be downloaded on iTunes, SoundCloud or ESPN1009.com. Segments from the current week’s episode can also be heard on the radio station on Friday nights from approximately 10-11:30pm.
Since 2016, the station has received numerous Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in categories such as Play-by-Play, Sports, Commerical, Marketing Materials & Promos, Feature/Use of Medium, and New Media. At the 2017 Broadcast Excellence Awards in Lansing, ESPN 100.9-FM was named a “Station of the Year” by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

Matt DeVries oversees day-to-day operations of the station. Jerry O'Donnell, the public address announcer of Dow Diamond, serves as the station's production and operations manager. Jay Arons, a proven leader in radio sales, is the station's director of sales. Managing the traffic and radio spots for the station is Robin Gover. Serving in a play-by-play broadcaster role is Chris Vosters. And responsible for programming & play-by-play broadcasting is Brad Tunney.
