Important information from Vitalant - Texas for anyone wanting to give blood.

The following statement regarding the Midland, Texas, shooting may be attributed to Carla Alexander, Communications Manager for Vitalant in Texas:

"Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones of this tragedy in Midland, Texas. Vitalant sent more than 65 additional units of blood products to the area hospital in response to the shooting, and we stand ready to provide more if requested. It’s the blood on the shelves, generously donated in the days and weeks prior, that helps save lives in an emergency.
Those who want to help are encouraged to give blood in the coming days and weeks and help ensure it is available for all types of emergencies and everyday patient needs. Donations are needed every day. To make an appointment, please use the Vitalant app, visit vitalant.org or call 1-877-25-VITAL."
