HELLO IT IS THE WEEKEND AND I AM ONCE AGAIN EATING PIZZA ON A STRANGER’S LAWN NEXT TO AN ABSURDLY LARGE SKELETON… and A MONKEY! And a RACCOON! And a GREAT DANE THAT IS NOT MY GREAT DANE! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

A trip to Grand Haven to coach my first soccer game of the 2026-27 season turned into one of the most memorable adventures of the entire skelly hunt thus far. My Warriors SC 2015 Girls Red team (that’s REIGNING STATE CHAMPS TO YOU, CHIEF 😤) went on a 4-0 romp while playing up an age in their first ever 11v11 game, and the good folks of Grand Haven helped me track down this soccer-themed skelly… who happened to belong to an animal enthusiast and wildlife rehabber named Ashley. We slammed delicious NY-style slices from The Slice Shoppe and Ashley introduced to Minnie the Dane, Preston the monkey, and Rocket the raccoon.

Thank you to Ashley, her kids, and her amazing animals for an unforgettable experience. Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go scroll through pictures of me snuggling with Rocket for the rest of my life 🥰

PIZZA PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET ⚠️ Please join me, my dad, and my two sane brothers in publicly shaming our (clearly insane) brother Jordan who just ordered a PATTY MELT instead of partaking in culinary perfection with the rest of us. I’m so incensed by this abhorrent behavior that I consider our annual Dad & Boys trip permanently and utterly ruined.

We’re off to find a way to leave him stranded on a small island in the Au Sable River so he can’t get out and infect society with the parasitic fungus that is clearly living in his brain and piloting his skin suit into head-on collisions with bad decisions.

My mom sent me this pic from my family birthday celebration last Sunday and there is so much going on that I don’t know where to start:

1. I’m wearing a sickkk pipe cleaner pizza crown made by my sister in law Maddy… because of course I am.

2. I’m eating ice cream with a fork because let’s be honest, who goes back and forth between utensils while slamming cake and ice cream?

3. Ralphie is transfixed by my ice cream while Frankie is playing it cool for the camera.

4. Collan just destroyed my entire Smash Up game by essentially trapping 4 of my minions on a now-worthless base right as my Zombie-Robot combo was about to swarm it for big points. I am slowly coming to the realization that I am not going to win this game, which is why when you look closely at my “smile”, you can see the pain of someone whose hopes and dreams have just been dashed upon the rocky shoreline. THANKS COLLAN YOU’RE A GREAT BROTHER AND NO OF COURSE I DIDN’T EXPECT SPECIAL TREATMENT ON MY BIRTHDAY 😒

🥅💀 GOAL UPDATE! 🍕🥅

As we hurdle toward September at the speed of pizza dough being flung into the air, it’s time to check in on my 2026 goals!

🇺🇸 Eat pizza on a stranger’s lawn next to an absurdly large skeleton in all 50 states in 2026: 31/50. No change in the number, but I did finally get to color in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, so maybe now folks will stop reminding me that the UP is part of Michigan 😂

🆙⬆️ Yooper Skelly Spotted! Say it with me…

HELLO IT IS THE WEEKEND AND I AM ONCE AGAIN EATING PIZZA ON A STRANGER’S LAWN NEXT TO AN ABSURDLY LARGE SKELETON!

After 8 months of getting schtick online for leaving Michigan’s Upper Peninsula grey on my “All 50 States” map, I finally had the chance to head north for the weekend. Believe it or not, I AM actually aware that the U.P. is part of Michigan (I’ve lived in MI my whole life folks), but I left it grey intentionally because I needed an excuse to go up there 😁

If you’ve never had the pleasure of visiting the U.P., take a look at my posts from Friday (Tahquamenon Falls) and Saturday (Pictured Rocks) for a glimpse at what you’re missing. This place is full of natural beauty and home to some of the kindest, most hospitable folks you’ll ever meet.

After hiking a total of 23 miles over the past 2 days, I stopped in St. Ignace, shamelessly smashed 10 slices of Alley Yoops incredible, charred-crust square pizza, then boxed up the last two and slammed those on the lawn of a house known locally as “Skeleton House.” Belly full, I drove south across the Mackinac Bridge with the sun setting to my right, which is truly a sight to behold in and of itself.

I have seen a lot of beautiful places this year, but for some reason, there is always an extra special glow around the beauty of my home state. Maybe it’s the pride I feel when someone looks at one of my pictures and says “THAT is Michigan? I thought Michigan was flat and boring?” Or maybe it’s the swirl of memories that carry me down these well-worn trails and make my feet feel a little lighter than they should. Whatever it is, I’m grateful for this feeling, and grateful for this place.

In a world where nonsense is abundant, one of the most nonsensical things I can think of is the fact that Pictured Rocks is a “National Lakeshore” instead of a full-blown National Park. Who do we call about that? Smokey The Bear? Captain Planet? The reanimated co**se of Teddy Roosevelt? Let’s get this rectified ASAP.

Anyway, my legs are sore after hiking 23ish miles in the past two days, so I’m going to go massage pizza grease directly into my quads to accelerate my recovery (it’s science, don’t question it).
