The brackets are set for the Class 5A baseball state tournament. Carl Albert will face Collinsville at 11 a.m. Thursday, and Midwest City will meet Pryor at 1:30 p.m. First and second round games will be at Owasso High School, with the championship set for Saturday at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Carl Albert’s girls tennis team had three medalists today at the state tournament. Seniors Lily Bryant and Bailey Rusche placed fourth at No. 1 doubles and sophomore Prestyn Yi was fifth at No. 2 singles.

The Carl Albert girls tennis team delivered a pair of upsets Friday in the opening round of the Class 5A state tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

The No. 1 doubles team of Lily Bryant and Bailey Rusche, seeded sixth, defeated No. 3 seed Bishop Kelley in a three-set match that included a lengthy weather delay. After dropping the opening set, Bryant and Rusche rallied to win the next two sets and advance to the semifinals.

Prestyn Yi made a strong impression in her state tournament debut, upsetting No. 4 seed Evyn Bull of Altus Bulldogs, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1. The sophomore later fell to fifth-seeded Penelope Shears of Booker T. Washington Hornets. Yi will continue play Saturday in the consolation bracket.

The tournament will resume Saturday morning.

Carl Albert earned a trip to the state tournament with a 7-2 win over Bishop McGuinness tonight in the regional finals.
