1442 - Route 35 is CLOSED between the redlight at Sheetz north to Jericho Rd due to a major accident. Use an alternate route and slow down.

This week's paper features East Juniata High School theatre students who are preparing for their fall play, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Check out our centerpiece story to learn more about the young actors and why they enjoy the stage. Inside the Oct. 29 edition, you'll find another group of young people — the candidates seeking the title of Juniata County Veterans Queen. Tickets for the Veterans Ball can still be purchased from these six young women. The one who sells the most tickets wins the queen title and the top scholarship. On Monday evening, Thompsontown Borough Council announced that a Halloween parade will be held at 4 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 25, followed by an event at the firehouse.
