This afternoon we had a great conversation with MHS seniors Alex Garcia and Cortney McComb. Both are actors in Peter and the Starcatcher, the spring musical at the high school.
Technology is a dream when it works. In this case, the audio recording failed. So, we were left with a video with no sound.
This is unfortunate because Alex and Cortney did a great job sharing how it feels to be performing again after COVID shut down their production of The Addams family in 2020 and kept the theatre dark until this school year.
Cortney told us, “I didn’t realize just how much I missed not being at the theater with all of my friends.”
Both young women have been involved in MHS Productions since their freshman year. Cortney credits Alex with getting her involved in the plays.
Peter and the Starcatcher, as Alex explained, is the story of Peter BEFORE he was Peter Pan ...before Tinkerbell ..before Captain Hook was Captain Hook.
Jill Tewsley, who attended Peter and the Starcatcher on opening night, commented about the strength of the entire show. “Not only was the acting outstanding but the set, costumes, lighting, and music were also fantastic.”
The show opened last weekend but Cortney said there are two performances left this weekend. One on Friday at 7 PM and another on Saturday at 7 PM.
