-Ward 1 Alderman Clay McCoy will challenge incumbent Milan Mayor B.W. Beasley in this November’s mayoral election.
-Professional bull rider Hudson Bolton, 21, of Milan scored an 84 during a ride at the M Bar C Bucking Bull Rodeo Saturday evening at the Obion County Fair.
-A Union City woman was arrested on drugs and weapons charges following a traffic stop in Milan.
-Alderman Mickey McAdoo announced his re-election candidacy for Ward 1 alderman.
-The Gibson City Board swore in former alderman Chris Houck as the town’s new mayor during a special called meeting.
-Milan’s Bulldogs defeated county rival South Gibson County High School for the 2nd straight season ending the football game 28-21 Thursday night.

-Former Milan High School student Reese Erin Barker, 16, was killed in a car wreck traveling Highway 152 in Crockett County Saturday morning.
-Medina City Board’s Vanessa Presson has resigned as alderwoman, and the city is now accepting applications for someone to fill the vacated position.
-Police have arrested Brittany E. Chavez for her alleged involvement in an armed robbery that occurred in Milan on Aug. 4.
-The deadline to run for this November’s elections is Thursday.

Lifeline Blood Services has an immediate need for Type O, A negative, and B negative blood types.

“The need for blood is constant and sometimes that need becomes critical,” said Melinda Reid, Marketing Manager with Lifeline Blood Services. “We have a few local heart surgery patients that need our donors’ help immediately. In addition to their high usage, we need to meet the additional needs of local patients. If you have type O, A negative or B positive blood types, please donate as soon as possible!”

Lifeline encourages donors to find the time to donate at either their Jackson or Dyersburg Centers, or find a blood drive nearby by visiting the blood drive calendar at: Lifelinebloodserv.org/drive-calendar.

Lifeline Blood Services, located at 183 Sterling Farms Drive, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. The Dyersburg Center is located at 1130 HWY 51 Bypass, Suite 19 & 20, and is open Saturday and Wednesday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Sunday through Tuesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary to donate whole blood.

-Floods closed Bradford schools and area roadways following torrential rains last Thursday night.
-An armed robber was caught in Tipton County after robbing a Milan cash business on Friday morning thanks to quick police work using state of the art surveillance.
-The second volume of Gibson County Publishing’s Gibson County Information Guides have hit the streets.
-Milan’s MEGA Endowment awarded 35 new grants totaling $32,500 to teachers, including an additional Honorary Ben & Tina Huey Grant.
-Bulldogs got shutout by Dyersburg 27-0 in scrimmage with two weeks left of practice before their first big test of the season against South Gibson County.

Production Technician Openings

A production technician will perform various jobs during the course of the day depending upon production and process requirements to extrude and process aluminum rod and bar to customer's specifications.
On-the-job training is provided to operate the various types of equipment and machinery. Pay increases are earned through a pay-for-skill system. Top-out pay can be reached in a minimum of 16 months. Starting pay is $17.96/hour and top-out pay is $24.54/hour.
A production technician works 12-hours shifts and rotates every 4 weeks between days and nights. The 12-hour shift is scheduled to provide three shifts in one week and four shifts in the next. So an employee has seven days off in a 14-day period.
We have a high performing team-based culture and an all-salaried workforce.
Qualifications and Skills
Selection process includes a math test, oral directions test and attitude survey.
A post offer drug screen, physical and background check will be required.
We prefer at least 6 months of manufacturing experience and a stable work history.
