With starting quarterback Zak Summers sidelined in the second half with an injury, the Milan football team almost pulled off the two-touchdown deficit to comeback against Huntingdon. The Bulldogs fell 35-34 to Huntingdon to end the season 12-1.

Milan’s Jaydon Peete named Class 2A Mr. Football finalist

Milan senior Jaydon Peete is among the elite once again. Peete was named a Tennessee Titans Class 2A Mr. Football finalist on Tuesday.
Peete was the 2024 Tennessee Titans Class 2A Mr. Football winner becoming the third winner in Milan history.
Peete, a UT Martin commitment, has been named a finalist with East Robertson’s Zach Groves and Fairley’s Andrew Johnson.
After leading the Bulldogs to the Class 2A state championship game last season, Peete has helped Milan to a 12-0 record and a spot in the state semifinals on Friday against Huntingdon.
Going into the semifinals, Peete has rushed for 1,449 yards and 25 touchdowns on 159 carries, which is 9.1 yards per carry. He has also caught nine passes for 186 yards and two more touchdowns.
Defensively, Peete has recorded 99 total tackles with 68 solo tackles, 16 tackles for loss and one sack. He also has three takeaways with two forced fumbles and one interception.
The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football award is a regular season award that was voted on by a selection committee of sportswriters from across the state.
In eight regular season games – as he didn’t touch the ball against Gibson County, Peete has recorded 82 total tackles with 59 solo tackles, 13 tackles for loss and one sack. He also has three takeaways with two forced fumbles and one interception.
Offensively, he has rushed for 803 yards and 15 touchdowns on 110 carries to go with 173 receiving yards on six catches with two touchdowns, averaging 28.8 yards per catch.
The three finalists will be invited to Nissan Stadium on Dec. 9 for a luncheon, and the winner of the award will be announced then.
