🎬 CASTING CALL — EIGHTEEN
I will be making my first short film, and I am seeking two exceptional performers for EIGHTEEN, a period short film set in Elizabethan England: A single sun-drenched afternoon between a young Anne Hathaway and a not-yet-famous William Shakespeare, just two young people falling in love.
From the first frame to the last, it's only Anne and Will; a classic two-hander. The script lives entirely on whether our two performers' chemistry. No subplot to cut away to, no third character to break tension. If you love language and know how to make it sound like breathing, we want to meet you.
ROLES
ANNE HATHAWAY (Female, 18–28) Anne is sharp, physical, and doesn't suffer fools—even charming ones. She moves with a confidence that borders on ownership of the world around her. She is the one who challenges Will to stop hiding in cleverness and give her the truth in his heart.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (Male, 18–24) Will is quick, restless, and fluent in the language of deflection. He hasn't become the "Bard" yet; he’s just a young man with a "restless heat" who uses words to keep life at a distance. We need an actor who can discover Sonnet 18 in real time, as if the lines were forming right before his eyes.

📅 Shoot Dates: May 23–24, 2026
📍 Location: SE Michigan area (outdoor woodland setting)
💰 Compensation: Copy, credit, and meals provided
🎥 Format: Short film, single camera, shot in RAW — festival submission possibilities
Non-union. All ethnicities welcome and encouraged to submit.
Period costuming provided if required.
Note: Availability for readings, costuming, and prep sessions on select Mondays and/or Saturdays is required. Please confirm availability before submitting.
AUDITIONS
Casting sessions will be held on Saturday, May 2nd (and 3rd if needed). Selected candidates will receive sides from the script in advance.
Headshots are appreciated but not required — if you don't have one, no worries. We will record all auditions.
