Our system was developed based off of frustrations with the current ecosystem of the music industry. From the beginning record deals were never designed to be in favor of the artist. This is the reason why unfortunately most artists get “jerked” not because they are not educated it is the jaded view of success that a label dangles at you to give you the perception of succeeding but truth be told very few artists make it past the cutting room floor which makes you a commodity not an asset.
The truth is 98% of your favorite artists will never see any royalties from their material because the artist is advanced throughout their tenure with said label and when you first signed you are so happy to get the opportunity you don’t ask the most important questions.
1. Who owns what? Do you own your masters? Are there any perpetuity clauses in your contract? Does it revert back to you when your term is done or if they drop you?
2. How does the money flow? Where does the revenue hit first? What expenses are recoupable? How often are statements paid? Will you even get paid?
3. What happens if you do score a hit record? What happens if it “flops?” If the record wins is there any leverage? Do we have negotiating power? If the record does not hit how do I get out of said contract? Do I get my rights back?
These are the only questions you should be focused on. If this is not clear to you where you can understand then just know you have a bad deal.

If you are signed artist we structure a deal that you can clearly understand and is fair for all parties or if you are releasing catalog that is produced in house we have standard catalog contracts that benefit the artist as well and you are able to keep 100% of your masters and a healthy royalty split that’s always in favor of the artist which encourages the artist to actually put in the work while learning the business.
