Simon & Garfunkel's hits at Oldies Night!
From 1966 to 1990 there was rarely a time when the national music charts didn't include at least one recording by Paul Simon, or Art Garfunkel, or the two of them as a duo. Between them they landed 26 albums and 51 singles on the charts. Biggest singles: "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" for Paul, "All I Know" for art, and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for the pair. On the album charts it was "Still Crazy After All These Years for Paul, "Breakaway" for Art, and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" as a duo.
You can enjoy dozens of their hits at the penultimate monthly Oldies Night in Milton-Freewater on Saturday, January 6 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. BJ the DJ celebrates 18 years of "cheap, trashy rock 'n' roll" programs at Wesley United Methodist Church with three hours of music from one of the most popular groups of the rock era. It all started in January 2006 at the publlc library and moved one block south to the church in 2015, after BJ retired as library director. There may be future Oldies Night programs for BJ, but the monthly ones will conclude in February.

Join us for ‘Oldies Night in Milton-Freewater’ on Freewater Square, corner of N. Main & S.E. 5th Avenue, this Saturday, 4-7 p.m.
Music will be provided by master DJ Bob Jones featuring 40 songs by 40 artists for years 1960-69.
Who is DJ Bob? In 2014 he retired from his position as the Director of the MF Library, where he had held his once a month ‘Oldies Night @ the Library’ since 2006. Since retiring he moved Oldies Night to the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church. He is an experienced DJ with an extensive knowledge of all genres of popular music from the 50’s to the 80’s, in fact he was a DJ for college radio stations in Iowa and Illinois in the '60s and '70s.
So if you don't have anything to do on Saturday - come on down and experience the sixties on Freewater Square - and feel free to dress up in a vintage 60's outfit - pretty sure some of you have some 60's clothing in the closet!!
