Crispy edges. Buttery layers. A touch of rum. 🍰

This French Apple Cake is exactly what fall mornings need.

Ingredients include:
• 1 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples peeled, cored and cut into • • 1/8th inch slices. (I used a mandoline)
• 1 tablespoon spiced rum
• 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
• 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons A/P flour divided
• 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoons salt
• 1 egg
• 2 egg yolks
• 1 cup whole milk
• 1 cup vegetable oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (extract will do here)
• sugar
