RAY EDDINGTON GETS NISEWONGERED ⚡🎤⚖️
nisewongered (v.) — when an outgoing official forgets who holds the power, insults the people who just voted him out, and gets publicly dismantled at his own microphone. 💥
Tuesday, Ray Eddington called Navarre Beach opponents hypocrites and backstabbers.

Thursday, Erin Nisewonger rising politician for "we the people", rising politician for "We the People of East Milton walked to the podium and ended it. 📝🔥
“You called your own constituents hypocrites, backstabbers, and told them they should be ashamed of themselves.

Think about that for a second.” 👀
She didn’t yell. She didn’t have to.
“It is shameful when an elected official lashes out at citizens because they dare to disagree.

It is shameful to respond to being voted out like a toddler throwing a tantrum.” 👶🚫
The voters already spoke. Dean Light won District 4. Eddington lost. That is not a stab in the back. That is an election. 🗳️
“The citizens didn’t backstab you. They voted.

This is a republic — the idea you pledge allegiance to before every meeting.” 🇺🇸
“Disagreement isn’t disrespect.

Opposition isn’t betrayal.

Accountability isn’t backstabbing.” 💯
Then she put his legacy on the table:
Leave with dignity.

Or be remembered as the man so bitter about rejection that he bullied the people he was sworn to represent. 🚪⏳
She looked at the rest of the dais too.
“Silence is a choice.

We see who speaks. We see who hides.

You were not elected to protect each other.

You work for us.” 🫵
And the line that should be carved into that chamber:
The nameplate may have your name on it.

The chair may temporarily be yours.

The power isn’t yours. ⚡
That’s a Nisewongering.
Don’t call thousands of residents names because they won’t line up behind a Navarre Beach project they don’t want. 🏖️❌

Don’t treat a lost primary like a personal betrayal.

Don’t sit in that chair and forget who put you there.
They elect you.

They fund you.

They can tell you no. 🙅‍♀️
It’s time. Do better. 👊

The sandy shores of Florida’s Navarre Beach are known for sea turtles gliding through the surf, birds soaring in the breeze and empty dunes that sweep toward the gleaming waves.

Some locals argue the development would be a welcome economic boost. But their arguments have done little so far to convince a group of residents who are racing to stop the project. “People are upset.”

Voters in Santa Rosa County will decide the fate of a half-cent local option sales tax in November.
The county has about $16 million a year at stake in the vote. It's money earmarked for infrastructure improvements.
The vote in November would renew the tax that is already in place. It was supported by about two-thirds of voters when it passed in 2016

I am calling on Santa Rosa County Commission leadership to stop looking the other way.
Commissioner Ray Eddington’s conduct at recent BOCC meetings has been an embarrassment to this board and an insult to the citizens who show up to be heard. If this incarnation of the BOCC actually intends to restore trust in the institution, leadership starts here.
You cannot claim to represent the public while sitting silent while a colleague berates people from the dais. Censure him. At minimum, publicly condemn the outbursts. A board that will not police its own behavior is telling every resident exactly how little their dignity matters.
Chair Wright and the rest of the board: put it on the agenda. Make the motion. Take the vote. The public is watching whether you will lead or just wait for the calendar to solve the problem.

Chair / District 5: Colten Wright — [email protected]
District 1: Bobby Burkett — [email protected]
District 2: Kerry Smith — [email protected]
District 3: Rhett Rowell — [email protected]
Censure or condemnation. Either would be a start. Silence is a choice.

🚨 **FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF PULLS THE PLUG ON LICENSE-PLATE CAMERAS**

Following Governor Ron DeSantis’ order to remove license-plate readers from Florida’s state roadways, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has shut down its Flock camera program—but apparently deactivating the account wasn’t enough.

Sheriff A.J. Smith said deputies discovered Tuesday that the cameras were still scanning license plates.

“We found out today they were still reading license plates. So we went and put pink bags on them and unplugged them,” Smith said.

Sheriff Smith said he contacted Flock and asked the company to turn off the cameras, but he isn’t waiting around.

“If I find out they are catching any tags some way, I’m going to take a hacksaw and cut them all down,” he said.

Because Franklin County leases the cameras, deputies reportedly cannot remove them themselves. Flock must take them down. However, the company told the sheriff’s office that it would not make “premature changes” to a contract that runs through December 2028. Flock says it is seeking a meeting with the governor’s office to clarify what it calls misconceptions.

For now, Franklin County’s cameras are unplugged—and covered with pink bags.
