We had THREE amazing guests join us tonight!
Karen is a returning guest! If you missed her first appearance, be sure to check out Episode 17. Karen is also a bereaved mother who lost her son, Joseph. She keeps Joseph’s memory alive in so many meaningful ways, but one of the things I have personally witnessed is the care and compassion she provides to grieving mothers.
Karen and her team provided postmortem care for my son, as well as Dawn’s and Becky’s sons. I think that speaks volumes about the compassion and dignity they provide during one of the hardest moments a family can face. Even more remarkable is the support Karen continues to offer long after the funeral services are over. How many people can say they still have that kind of support from their funeral director?
Dawn lost her son, Earle, and continues the work he started through Hope on Deck. She honors Earle by carrying forward the mission he was so passionate about. Hope on Deck provides necessities to individuals struggling with addiction and recovery, while also supporting parents whose children are battling addiction. They don’t just talk about helping—they show up. You can find them in communities that need hope, resources, and compassion, whether that's on the streets of Wilmington or Kensington, handing out food, clothing, encouragement, and hugs.
Becky lost her son, Sean, who was known for his kindness and desire to help others. Becky honors Sean through her project, Paying It Forward in Memory of Sean Walker. The concept is simple but powerful: do something kind for someone and ask them to pay it forward. You can follow the page and witness the ripple effect of kindness happening every day. Becky has also joined Dawn in working with Hope on Deck.
Because of Eli will be donating the proceeds from our current fundraiser, generously hosted by R&N Crafty Creations, to Hope on Deck. Their work is made possible through the kindness and support of donors and volunteers.
This episode will be available very soon. We shared lots of laughs, shed some tears, and remembered these incredible young men whose impact continues to be felt every day.
This episode is because of Earle, Eli, Joseph, and Sean. ❤️
