WI: MAGA infiltrated controversy brewing inside the Milwaukee Police Association (MPA - union) elections between current MAGA (Make Amerikkka Great Again) MPA President Alex Ayala and candidate for President Scott Weiting.
Also, MPA President Ayala prohibited the Milwaukee Retired Police Association (MRPA) from having a table to register at the MPA Annual Christmas Party being held at Serb Hall on December 9, 2025 in Milwaukee's South.
According to writer and journalist for Wisconsin Right Now dot com, Jessica McBribe in her Facebook account, she posted, "Holy sh*t, this MPA president’s election sure is getting nasty. Some of Scott Wieting’s supporters are upset that I said nice things about MPA President Alex Ayala (and some of them are people I respect. Alex is also supported by people I respect.) I have no opinion of Scott Wieting because I’ve never met him, never seen him anywhere, never heard of him until now, and never heard FROM him (which might prove my point.) Maybe he’s great. I haven’t had time to dig deeper."
"The criticism I’ve heard seems to be reflecting a schism between patrol and detectives; a belief that the contract settlement cost some cops money and should have been taken to arbitration; the salary raise I wrote about before, and concerns about how often Ayala is seen in the districts. I would point out, though, that the contract was ratified with more than 80% of the vote and arbitration is never a sure thing.
"What I can tell you is that Ayala has been very active in reaching out and advocating for his cops’ interests to us and others. He’s accessible and provides data when asked (like about Barrett reducing police positions when I wanted to do a story on the decimation of force strength). I’ve seen him at multiple events. He’s out there a lot. That helps the cops by building bridges in Madison. I think he’s effective in the media. I talked to him for five minutes at an event the other day. It’s not some nefarious plot. I’ve seen a lot of MPA presidents in action, and like I wrote before, they were pretty insular (except DeBraska. He was always working the media and the politicians.) It might be rare for a cop to excel in a media environment, because many cops dislike the media because they believe they are unfairly treated. I think Alex is good at this, and that helps cops. I have no skin in this game. It’s just my two cents.
"There’s the external game, though, and the internal game. And they’re not necessarily the same thing. We will see how it shakes out. Both Wieting and Ayala have past controversies, but I’m not going to get into that, because I’d rather stay positive.
"But boy is this a hornet’s nest."
