MEE SO ASIAN (MSA), is a podcast focusing on topics and issues related to the Asian American experience. MSA is a safe space, a community, and resource hub, for Asian Americans to share their experiences, connect, learn, empower, and discuss ways to heal and move forward. Her parents were refugees of the Vietnam War. Both of her parents were part of the CIA's "Secret War." Growing up, Mee quickly

found herself caught between two opposite cultures. She pretty much had to learn how to navigate both worlds on her own while translating and interpreting for her parents, raising her younger siblings, and helping out with house hold tasks. She went on to serve in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnance and became the first female to complete a Master's degree. Mee finished her Master of Social Work from UW-Milwaukee and is currently pursuing her second Master's at Indiana University-Bloomington. Although she has changed career fields, Mee still loves helping people and using what she knows and has experienced to advocate and create awareness for topics such as, being a veteran, mental health, abuse, trauma, and self-love. For her, everyday is an opportunity to learn something new and grow. She loves hiking, traveling, and writing. When she is not working or on the go, she is indulging in all her favorite Asian dramas and shows.

A form of self-love is admitting when you have too much on your plate. I have been facing burnout, as I took on more than I could handle. Although it was hard, I knew I had to make some decisions on what to let go of and what needed my utmost attention. I evaluated my priorities and re-directed my energy and time to align with them.

I didn't put myself down or engage in any negative talks. I simply recognized the need and work to address it. I informed the parties involved and thanked them for their grace and support.

For far too long, I was trying to do everything, pleasing everyone, putting myself last, and thinking this was part of my roles and responsibilities. I thought loving and caring for others, myself, and what I do and stand for meant this. It was far from the truth.

I didn't know love to its fullest; I didn't know SELF-LOVE. Love and respect start from yourself. When I started doing just that, I became less resentful and more energetic and at peace. My anxiety slowly went away and my light began to shine.

🇺🇸🇵🇭🇱🇦

Truly an astonishing event highlighting all the amazing, talented, and world changing women. Everyone came prepared and displayed high class acts of courage, confidence, compassion, charisma, and character. Such an empowering moment!

Congrats Miss USA! A historical moment for the Filipino community as R’Bonney Gabriel is the first Filipina-American to be crowned Miss USA, and now Miss Universe 2022!!!

Miss Universe Laos (Payengxa Lor)…although you weren’t crowned, you’ve already made significant strides that captured the hearts of many, and have made the HMong community very proud. In our eyes you already won the moment you believed in yourself. For me personally…knowing that us HMong people don’t have a country…just seeing you on stage and representing the country where many of our people call home brought me tears of joy and happiness. I’m proud to have witness this historical moment and can’t wait to see what’s next for you.

Countdown begins! In 10 days, the MSA podcast will be launching its FIRST episode on Jan 25, 2023!
