DAYBREAK V.9 SUBMISSIONS OPEN

We haven’t been over to the Pacific Northwest in a while. Too long if you ask me. There’s a feeling that comes along with the PNW that’s not far off from the Northern East Coast or the Northwoods of the Midwest. In the PNW, the air feels... mossy. Seaspray floats like the clouds that roll from the Sound into the valley’s of the Cascades. The wool blanket in the back of your car is your best friend, the coast glows with campfires, and mountain tops are speckled with old fire lookouts.

For DAYBREAK V.9, we’re getting cozy on the coast, wandering into deep green woods, and lighting a fire in the sand. We think you should tag along. For V.9, we’re looking for submitted stories around the ideas and feelings of “beach bonfires,” “coastal cozy,” “cabin core,” “wool blankets,” “dense forest,” and “mossy driftwood.”

is a boutique design studio in Charleston, SC founded on the visual craftsmanship of Sam & Juan Solorzano with a focus on traditional branding, illustration, and design. Over the years, Brothers has worked with the finest brands and bands, crafting timeless logos, illustrations, and marks for the likes of , , and so many other namesakes in the outdoors world.

For V.8 we sat down with Sam and Juan to dive into the early days of Brothers, going from brothers to co-workers, and the frustrating compliment a stolen design is.

At the core of a historic and growing Chicago music scene, has played a vital role in the growth of both the Chicago and Midwest indie scenes. “Small Talk” embodies both this growth and a heavy Chicago footprint across all 11 tracks.

Just before its release, we sat down with Max and Julien to talk through the new record, the pains of writing both on the road and simply as an adult, and the beautiful chaos a Transatlantic relationship brings.

For every DAYBREAK we ask one of our favorite illustrators to design a tattoo flash sheet for us.

This time ‘round we’ve given the reigns to Brothers Design Co., an outfit of two brothers who have tackled designs for the likes of and many others over the last few years.
