One Menasha resident says he and his wife and kids barely made it to the basement during Monday’s tornado.

Powerful winds ripped off the back end of their home.

"When I first walked in the door, it was like anger, like 'Oh my God, it's gone! What happened? Why?' And then it was denial," he said.

Mandela Barnes dropped out of Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor on Thursday, further shaking up the race less than two weeks before the Aug. 11 election.

“It's become very clear who our nominee is going to be,” Barnes said.

Barnes’ decision to drop out came a day after the release of a Marquette Law School poll of Wisconsin Democratic primary voters that found Hong leading Barnes and the other candidates by a significant margin.

A Madison official responsible for police oversight said she's not receiving cooperation from the Madison Police Department on the Corey Ruiz investigation.

Madison's Independent Police Monitor Aeiramique Glass said she understands why people are still out at the memorial site and she supports them in holding MPD accountable.

She said if MPD doesn't hand over materials her office needs, things will "escalate" among protesters.

The support for Menasha residents impacted by the tornado has been overwhelming.

Volunteer Fox Cities said it's already registered over 600 volunteers to help since Tuesday. Some have showed up from over 50 miles away to lend a hand.

One victim said the donations and support have "helped a lot."

On Doty Island, many are still without power and water after storms came through, ripping down powerlines and trees.

The little island will never be the same, one resident said.

Many said what helps, though, is a community coming together to recover.
