Yesterday, I had the pleasure of interviewing the Reverend Volina Cross. We discussed her book Getting Honest.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR!
Volina Dorothy Cross, the fifth child of sixteen children, was born in 1940, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her parents were Piccolar (nee Hutchinson) and Arthur Cross.
Volina completed her primary education at Attala High School in Kosciusko and North Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she graduated with honors. She holds five advance degrees: an associate in Liberal Arts from Milwaukee Area Technical College, two bachelor’s degrees – one from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in education and counseling where she graduated cm laude; and a second from Milwaukee Theological Institute in Urban Ministry. She earned two masters – one in Administrative Leadership and adult education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (with honors), and the second in Pastoral Counseling and Care from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. Volina is a lifelong learner. Throughout her life, she has been an avid reader.
She is retired from Milwaukee Area Technical College where she was coordinator of the Career Resource Center for 20 years, and co-authored a book on career planning, as well. Volina is an ordained Presbyterian minister and she pastored for six years.
