A community food center is coming to Milwaukee through the nonprofit Kinship MKE. Kinship recently broke ground on its 28,000-square-foot Kinship Community Food Center. The new building will roughly double food market access over five years and add space for additional crisis resources, a production kitchen to expand workforce training capacity, a greenhouse, a chapel, and a courtyard.

In 2025, Kinship gave away half a million pounds of produce and grew 20,000 pounds of fresh produce at its urban farm in Glendale, Wisconsin.

Today is National HIV Testing Day, and we're highlighting Emory COMPASS's PoWER NextGen HIV Leadership Academy, a program helping HBCU students build leadership skills while learning about HIV prevention.

Recent fellows Raven Battiste, a student at Alabama State University, and ToNyiya Smith, a student at Dillard University, shared how the paid program challenged misconceptions they once had about HIV, gave them the confidence to educate others, and changed the way they think about leadership and advocacy. Their stories are a reminder that education has the power to replace fear with knowledge and inspire meaningful conversations in our communities
