We would like to thank Shepherd Express for a wonderfully written highlight on the joys of LARPing and supporting our communities.

They say it’s just a ruin now.
Overgrown. Forgotten.
The kind of place you pass without looking twice.

But your character keeps going back.

Not for strategy. Not for safety.
Because something in them won’t let go.

Maybe it’s where they buried the blade.
Or whispered a name they weren’t supposed to know.
Maybe it’s where they first saw the stars move wrong.

They don’t talk about it.
Not even when asked.
But the moss remembers their footsteps.
And the wind knows their name.

Every time they return, something shifts.
A memory. A scar. A truth they haven’t faced.

So tell us, what’s the place your character keeps returning to?

Celebrate the glorious future of the Raven Lands, toast to the many wonderful accomplishments of the Azure Accord, and dance the night away in unparalleled elegance. The orchestra shall play until the candles forget to burn.

Deeplight has been running for over a decade. Systems shift. Stories fade. Most things are forgotten.

But not everything.

Some memories linger in the minds of a few. Twisted by time. Shaped by fear. Rewritten to survive.

There are players who speak of things no one else remembers - rituals that were banned, names that were erased, places that no longer appear on any map. Some are dismissed as eccentric. Others are feared. A few are hunted.

And then there are the quiet ones. The ones who don’t speak often, but when they do, it’s with certainty. Because they were there. Or they saw it in a vision. Or they touched something that never let go.

Your character might be one of them. Or maybe they carry a memory that doesn’t match the records. A moment they’ve softened. Or sharpened. Or buried so deep it only surfaces in dreams.

So tell us: what’s a memory your character has that was overwritten and forgotten over time?

They told her never to speak to the dead without a circle drawn. Never without a witness. Never without permission.

She broke that rule the first time she heard her brother’s voice in the quiet between dreams. No salt. No sigils. Just bare hands and a name whispered into the dark.

It wasn’t rebellion. It wasn’t pride. It was grief. And it was love.

The academy called it reckless. The council called it dangerous. But she called it necessary. Because sometimes the rules are written by people who’ve never lost what she did.

She still breaks it. Not often. Not loudly. But when the wind shifts and the veil thins, she listens. And she answers.

So tell us—what’s a rule your character breaks without regret?

At Long Lake, not everything stays where it’s placed. This event introduces an opt-in stealing mechanic—designed for players who want to add a little risk to their roleplay. If you choose to participate, your tagged items become fair game. That potion bottle on your belt? That dagger tucked into your sash? Someone might lift it in the middle of a crowded scene, and you won’t know until it’s gone. But here’s the twist: all stolen items are turned in to the Auctioneer, no questions asked. You might win it back in a bidding war—or watch it fall into someone else’s hands. It’s fully tracked, fully optional, and built to stir tension, drama, and unforgettable moments. Whether you’re the one watching your back or the one slipping through the crowd, this mechanic rewards bold choices and sharp eyes. Opt in if you’re ready to play with consequences.

December 13th 4pm to midnight.

Some people guard everything. Their magic. Their stories. Even their kindness.

But your character gives something freely. Not because they’re careless. Because they’ve decided it matters more to share than to hoard.

Maybe it’s a skill: mending, healing, reading the stars. Maybe it’s a quiet place by the fire, or a name spoken gently when someone forgets their own. Maybe it’s laughter, or patience, or the kind of silence that lets others breathe.

They don’t ask for payment. They don’t keep score. They just offer it, again and again, even when the world doesn’t notice.

So tell us: what’s something your character offers freely?

The Ravenlands are shifting. Nobles rise. Secrets unravel.
And every choice you make, every alliance, betrayal, or quiet act of kindness - leaves a mark.

This isn’t just a weekend of roleplay. It’s a chance to shape legacy.
To decide what your character stands for, and what they’ll be remembered for.
Will they be a name whispered in reverence? Or a warning carved into history?

Winter’s Wail runs November 7–9 at YMCA Camp Minikani in Hubertus, WI.
Heated cabins, hot meals, and a story built for emotional depth and immersive play.

They didn’t know how to begin. Not what to wear, what to say, or what even mattered. They just stood at the edge of the camp, watching stories unfold like firelight—close enough to feel the warmth, but not quite part of it.

Then someone waved them over. Not with ceremony. Not with pressure. Just a quiet gesture that said, you’re welcome here.

Maybe it was a merchant who offered a name. A knight who asked a question. A stranger who didn’t treat them like one. That moment changed everything. Not because it was grand. Because it was kind.

Your character remembers it, the first step, the first welcome, the first time they felt like part of the world.

So tell us: who helped your character take their first step?

At Long Lake, some booths sell bread. Others sell secrets.

Behind the curtains, under the tables, tucked into the corners—there are spaces that weren’t on the map. Vendors can design their setups with hidden doors, false fronts, and safehouses. Maybe your apothecary is just a cover for a smuggling ring. Maybe your cozy tea shop has a trapdoor that leads to a faction meeting. Maybe your booth connects to another vendor’s space—but only if you know the knock.

These aren’t gimmicks. They’re story tools. They let you run covert trades, stash stolen goods, host rituals, or disappear when things get messy.

You don’t need a massive build or a complicated plan. Just a little intention, a little mystery, and a reason for someone to lean in and ask, “Wait… what’s behind that?”

Long Lake rewards curiosity. It thrives on secrets. And it’s built for players who want to blur the line between booth and world.
