✨ Step back in time with us today… ✨ SWIPE through to see images of the “old Spanish apartments” from the 1950s.

This week, we welcomed a truly special guest, William Potter, who lived in our villa now called Laura back in the mid-1950s. His mom was a seamstress, his dad walked just a few blocks to his job at Piggly Wiggly, and this little corner of Minden was their home.

It’s incredibly rare to meet someone still alive who once lived within these walls, and even more of a gift that William returned with photos from his childhood. Thanks to my amazing Property Manager Holly Monday’s lens, we re-created those exact spots today, giving us a moving then-and-now look at life nearly 70 years apart. I love how some of our key features are easily identifiable in the before and after photos. Even our couch is in the same place as their couch was.😱

This is exactly why I love the Internet…..

If you’ve been following along, I’ve been posting the before and after videos of each individual villa.

One of them somehow reached a sweet lady named Jane Allison.

She immediately reached out and said that from 1956 to 1958, she and her dad along with her FIVE siblings lived in villa number eight which is now known as Wheeler.

To put that in perspective, this villa is maybe 500 ft.² I don’t know how in the world they even did that. But her parents divorced, and her dad kept all the children, and it probably was the only affordable place he could put a roof over their heads.

She also told me there was a lady next-door named Ms Potter, whose husband worked at Piggly Wiggly (which at the time would’ve been just down the street) and Ms Potter used to sew clothes for them.

She sent me this picture and it took my breath away….

People ask me all the time why I didn’t just tear down The Villas and start over. And this story is exactly why I did not.❤️❤️

Most of the people who lived there are long gone, and it is a rare day when I get to hear a story like this. It truly makes it all worth it.❤️

Oh my goodness! Tap to read this review that just came in on Google. 😭😭❤️❤️

I’m telling you right now, this is the hardest work I’ve ever done in my life. I have the most amazing team that keeps all of the ships afloat and this review is a testament to their loyalty, dedication and hard work.

It it is one of the greatest honors of my life to have saved this historic property and it gives me great joy when others love their accommodations.
