Mineola ISD would like to thank Coach Luke Blackwell for his 18 years of dedicated service to Mineola Athletics and the countless students he has impacted throughout his career. Coach Blackwell played an integral role in one of the most historic moments in Mineola ISD athletic history, serving as the Defensive Coordinator for the 2016 State Championship Football Team. During his tenure as Head Football Coach, he led the program with integrity and commitment, completing his head coaching career with a record of 44 wins and 34 losses.

We are grateful for Coach Blackwell’s leadership, dedication, and service to our athletic programs and student-athletes. As he transitions into his new role as Dean of Students at Mineola Primary School, we look forward to his continued impact on students and families across the District.

The position of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach will be posted on Monday, January 12th, 2026. The District will conduct a statewide search for the next leader of Mineola ISD Athletics.

C-RAD got Coach Ed Orgeron to give him a “GEAUX TIGERS” at last night’s 90th Cotton Bowl Classic in which Miami beat Ohio State 24-14. Oregeron led the 2019 LSU Tigers football team to a national championship.
