Once upon a time Johnstown had a Central Park that was the envy of most towns of this size. It was a quiet, shaded place where city folk could sit, relax, meet friends and unwind, if only for a few minutes, on a hot summer day. Then "leaders" decided that wasn't enough.
They decided to cut down trees that were 50-60-70 years old to make room for an entertainment venue. Look at the pictures ... already at least two shade trees have been ripped down, and this is just the beginning! And you can't see the other demolition being done because of the nearly opaque fence they put up around the entire perimeter! Hiding something? What do you think?
Of course the park needed improved upon ... new sidewalks, lighting, wiring for events like the Christmas village, etc., but this? In 25 years or so the tiny trees they plant will grow enough to provide some shade. How nice for the folks in 2050.
