We attended a delightful Christmas concert at St. Vincent College in Latrobe last weekend. There were five professional singers, 10 excellent student singer/dancers and a 3-piece combo providing flawless music for it all. Thanks to all involved for a great addition to our Christmas celebration!

Oh my!!! If you like musical theater then you must see this production of Les Miserables at the Benedum Theater in Pittsburgh. I've been fortunate enough to see this on stage 4 times and this presentation, by far, is the strongest most powerful show I've seem in my 50+ years of loving theater. And it makes the movie pale in comparison.

Everything was exceptional. A 20-piece orchestra delivering inspired music; actors singing with voices that rivaled any Broadway star I've ever seen; gigantic sets filling the stage; lighting that dazzles with every scene - all coming together flawlessly! Amazing!

There are two more shows Saturday and two om Sunday. It will be a moment in the theater that you'll remember forever! Dale

It's possible that you aren't aware that St. Vincent College in Latrobe offers musical theater performances several times a year. Last weekend was "Guys and Dolls'" one of my favorites. This was a student production, and in spite of limitations in set design, the show was delightful and the voices were excellent. It was a fun evening,

Coming up Dec. 5-6-7 is their Christmas cabaret with 4 or 5 Broadway caliber professional singers with a local ensemble performing somgs of the season. These folks are top-notch. You might want to check it out.

On this Veteran's Day allow me to introduce my father, Howard Dean Wicks. Dad was a Staff Sargent In the US Army, serving with the 817th Tank Destroyers in World War II throughout France and Germany.

Richard Mayer died last week. Born in 1930, Richard devoted most of his adult life serving the people of Johnstown through good times and bad. As editor of the local newspaper, he had a front row seat to the events surrounding the Johnstown Flood of 1977.

WIX PIX along with Dan Hummel interviewed Mr. Mayer in 2015 for a JARI program. After some extensive searching, I located that interview in our archives.

Richard gave so much to this community ; now it's our turn to give something back to the Mayer family. Here is that interview.
