She passed away on Christmas Eve. Her murder remains unsolved. Carol Rofstad, a Illinois State University, senior, was last seen walking toward her home at the DZ sorority house in Normal, IL on the night of December 22, 1975. Carol’s Last Christmas – Episode 19: A Formidable Enemy

The veteran journalists and investigators on our team have always endeavored to work responsibly with law enforcement. In this case, we have waited more than 2 years to release an episode of our podcast that might have had an effect on a pending case. This is another example of George Seibel’s extraordinary abilities in analyzing cold cases no one else has been able or willing to solve. This Utah case was set for trial in October 2024. Now it appears it will never go to court…though the family finally has the answers it has needed for so many years.

After two years of silence, the team reveals new insights from George Seibel on a Utah cold case once headed for trial but now closed—bringing long-awaited answers to a grieving family.

On Thursday night, students on campuses across the country took part in "Take Back The Night," an annual march to raise awareness for sexual, physical and domestic violence. The primary goal of this event is to promote safety within communities for women and minorities to to be able to move in their environments freely.

This year, students at Illinois State University decided to use this night of advocacy to share the story of their own fellow Redbird, Carol Rofstad, who was tragically a victim of violence while walking home from a tavern in 1975. Carol was a big topic of discussion and many students heard, for possibly the first time ever, about the wonderful young woman she was who should have never been victimized while just trying to go home.

Thank you so much to SERC for helping put together this event and for including Carol.

An article was published by The Pantagraph including some information about Carol. I will post the screenshot of the article in the comments.

A new podcast created by Criminal Justice II students at the Bloomington Area Career Center in Bloomington, called "Into The Files", seeks to research true-crime cases locally and around the state. Today, they uploaded an episode all about Carol and her story. I encourage you all to listen.

Thank you so much to the students who took the time to research and put together this episode about Carol. Any exposure we can get on this nearly a half-century cold case is so appreciated.

These photos were taken exactly 50 years ago today while celebrating Parent's Day, an annual event where parents are invited to visit the sorority house. Looks like it was a wonderful time.

Does anyone have any fun memories from this event?

Today is September 25, which marks the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. We remember Carol Rofstad and all of the other victims of violent crime who's lives were cut short for no reason.
Carol was a terrific young woman who has remained in the hearts of those who loved her almost 50 years since her passing, along with those who never got the chance to know her but choose to keep her legacy alive.
We will always remember you.

Carol's Last Christmas - Episode 18 - Suspect #2

When a cold case is “on ice” for a half century, you can expect long lulls in the investigation. But our Genuine Human team is committed to keeping the tips and analysis alive. After we were informed that our final suspect, the “last man standing” would be potentially talking to police, we enlisted George Seibel to school us all in the art of interrogation. If you had suspect #2 in the hot seat, what would you do?
