Dr. Nuur Hassan returns to Minnesota once more with a powerful new book that speaks directly to the experiences of young Somali readers and the educators who support them. His latest work,
βπ΄π π΅πππ ππ πΊππππ: π¨ π±ππππππ ππ π¬ππππ, π³πππ, πππ
π³πππππ,β follows the story of Sahal; a Somali boy navigating identity, belonging, and the space between two worlds.
For young readers who grew up in the diaspora, Sahalβs story offers a relatable journey that mirrors the questions many carry about culture, home, and the legacy passed down by parents who immigrated to a new country.
For educators, this book provides a meaningful tool for engaging Somali and other immigrant students by embedding it in the English Language Arts (ELA) classes. It opens doors to discussions about identity, displacement, resilience, and intergenerational storytelling which is a core theme that strengthen classroom connection and literacy development.
