Who would have thought my COVID hobby of baking would take me on this journey?! So excited to update everyone on this program that I have been developing these past few months. Cook to Connect is a collaborative project between the Thriving Families Initiative in Minnesota and Family Enhancement Center. This program offers a safe space that creates opportunities for families to increase their social support networks, develop leadership skills, and lift other community members up by making their communal voices heard.
Food builds community. Cook to Connect will create a platform for voices that will change the way policy decisions get made. Empowering community members to share their lived experiences with those who create policies. I believe to my core that there’s no better catalyst for community-building than food. Through food, we connect. Through food, we create community. And through food, we can strengthen communities!
