BAD USE OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS:
A REASON FOR RECKLESS DRIVING AND INCREASING DEATHS

Kambia, Wednesday, December 24th 2025: A couple of weeks ago, the Kambia Traffic Police Department set up a spontaneous road block on the highway, staged what they best described as an "operation" to crackdown on overloading. The "operation" was centered around commercial vehicles plying along the Mano River corridor and the aim, according to LUC Chief Superintendent of Police, Sao Vandy, was to deter overloading. It was a popular operation in Kambia and numerous Liberian vehicles were arrested, but were suddenly released after over 5hrs dialogue.

How successful was that operation? The photo below displays 2 Liberian Commercial vehicles (23/12/2025), on route from Guinea/Conakry via Sierra Leone to Liberia. By the look of things, these vehicles appear to be committing the same crime for which dozens of similar commercial vehicles traversing the same international route were arrested by the Police about 2 weeks ago. Police say they were committing crimes, including overloading, carrying goods above the normal height and thereby obscuring the rear view, among others. None were sent to court neither have they stopped committing the same crime.

Sadly, the action with all due respect to my senior brother, appears to be an abuse of the General Trade Agreements GTA, which primarily refer to the foundational General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), a post-pact to lower trade barriers (tariffs, quotas) among nations, promoting free trade to which Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia are signatories.

These vehicles, in full view, have been plying along our manor river corridor in this same manner, though dangerous, for over 2 decades undeterred. What causes the discontinuation of the operation? Recently, many people have died due to the rampant bad use of the country's traffic regulations. In Kambia, traffic police officers are littered all over the township of Kambia, and its immediate environs, thus causing undue hardship.

THE LAND OF CRITICAL DIFFERENCE

THE LAND OF PA. KAMBIE IS AMAZING...

It's a land of critical differences following its natural endowments. Our home, Pa. Kambie is rich in fish, a border district with a large proportion of the population are earning their livelihood through trade. This makes Pa. Kambie is the leading trade center in Lion Mountain. Pa. Kambie hosts the biggest weekly market named Bamoi Muma International Market. Bamoi is known by many as a cosmopolitan settlement that accommodates a mixed blend of people from various nationalities from across all West African states.

Mother Kambie is often described by many locally and externally as a virgin's land, thus exposing the children of Pa. Kambie to naked exploitation by our very own.

It is in Pa. Kambie, a public building, was robbed of all valuables, including spare parts, machinery among other useful materials meant for the sustainability of the $7 million worth of JICA township water project. The items apparently stolen from the store are of heavy monetary value, prior to the burning 🔥 of the building. The act, many say, depicts evidence destruction. Many believe. That was also prior to the ongoing government intervention to increase the portable pipe-borne water township network.

It is in Pa. Kambie where public vehicles were left unaccounted for, others cannibalized, while others were practically stolen from the people of Pa. Kambie by some outgone administrators and managers of MDAs in Pa. Kambie unregulated.

It is in Pa. Kambie, where community pipe born water is being sold by our water supplier to private water companies in Pa. Kambie township and beyond, thereby causing artificial scarcity for the locals, to allow the companies to make sales and accrue profit from a facility meant for the benefit of the community, mainly the multitude number of very low income earners. In Pa. Kambie, many believe that the taste of almost all the so-called "Pure Water" cannot be differentiated from that fetched directly from the public stand-posts provided as a grant by the Government of Japan through the government of the Lion Mountain to the children of Pa. Kambie with the aim of making water available, accessible and affordable for all. The children of Pa. Kambie Central enjoys less than 8 hours of water pipe borne water supply weekly and 2 days per week (Wednesday and Sunday).

Retrospectively, in less than half a year, how sustainable and beneficial the €2.5 million EU funds to the children of Pa. Kambie? Unaccountable implementation and neck-breaking store rental fees for facilities given to the children of Pa. Kambie by the People of Japan Pro Bono...makes it very inhumane

Notwithstanding, with these and the many more ugly treatment, Mother Kambie, our home, remains more friendly to all, with no discrimination towards tribal and regional lines. On the opposite, and to date, the children of Pa. Kambie faces the greatest abuse from a few strange thorny hands in conspiracy with some unscrupulous, self-centered and selfish purported "LACIRRI" who should be on the defensive and not the offensive. The people's own movement remains in shambles.
