Got an hour of funk coming up at 6pm from the likes of Cola Boyy (rip), Curtis Mayfield (rip), the Hoctor and Statler Records house bands and more for Pardon My Funk during KFAI - Fresh Air Community Radio's annual Funkraiser.

Not only that, but I'll be backing Jacques Elate-Joss of Douala Soul Collective visually tonight at Dual Citizen Brewing from 7pm to 11pm. The first hour will be broadcast on KFAI, but you'll have to make your own visuals.

In the end, disco won out. Most of these records were brand new to me, though I recognized many once I played them. My attempts to completely dis(co)associate were foiled by the station's actual commitment to community information and engagement. That's important too.

If only there was a place that would regularly welcome me to play records for a dancefloor or lounge that pays more than 50 bucks and doesn't require me to bring and set up all the equipment.
