10/10 Minneapolis night: Got a Byron Buxton ball he hit during practice for the HR derby while I was interviewing the Twins GM, saw two great pitchers on a gorgeous night, Sharkman and I got nachos in a helmet, Nelly was relatively hot in herre, the Twins historian showed me the framed hot dog wrapper from 2010 autographed by me after eating the first dog at Target Field, Drew and Dan came on the radio with me. then met a bartender who juggles who’s named after a Priest who gave last rites to his dad’s friend, and got great drinks from one of my favorite cocktail content creators at one of my favorite bars.

NEW THIS WEEK: 3 soft openings all over the metro - lots of great stuff happening!

🌃 Dark Horse Bar&Eatery in St. Paul is back! and the Can Can Wonderland / Saint Paul Brewing team have lightened and brightened an awesome Lowertown St. Paul hang. We loved the beets & tofu salad, elote shish*tos, the dark house double smash burger will instantly enter the burger-obsessed's top lists too. There’s a wanderous punch milk punch - served in a soy sauce bottle with a surprise side - cocktails are fabulous!
🦛 Hippo Pockets has its first brick-and-mortar, a tiny spot at 48th & Chicago in Minneapolis. They have bowls and salads now, but the crunch-wrap is excellent take-out. Birria, ranch chicken bacon, the OG - so happy for owner Jami Olson who is a gem.
🥃 Pub 819 is back after a devastating fire and they have a compression smoker - from the people who make broasters. Smoked brisket grilled cheese, I loved the Reuben too. They have a Hopkins smashed with raspberry BBQ and Havarti cheese. Great nod to downtown Hopkins - this place has a killer bourbon selection too but don’t tell anyone.

The Loring Park fine dining restaurant will close on Sept. 5 following the end of its lease.
