ST. MICHAEL: Vehicle Rollover on Westbound I-94 near mile marker 203. One person required extrication after reportedly being trapped under the vehicle and was transported by Life Link helicopter with serious injuries.

A secondary crash occurred a short time later involving an RV that rolled over. No injuries reported in this crash.

Homicide

On 01-13-26 at approximately 2:45am, Brooklyn Park Police responded to a shooting at Park Haven Apartments in the 6900 block of 76th Avenue. Officers learned an adult male had been shot and started rendering aid.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Brooklyn Park Investigators are actively working the case. Assistance is being provided by Hennepin County Crime Scene Investigations.

The Saint Paul Fire Department mourns the loss of Firefighter Timothy Bertz, who passed away yesterday following a serious medical event. Firefighter Bertz, a recent graduate of the Saint Paul Fire Academy and proud military veteran, served with dedication and left a lasting impact. Our deepest condolences to his wife, family, and loved ones.

A public memorial will be held on December 29 at Maranatha Church in Forest Lake. We request privacy for the family during this difficult time.

‼️𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞: 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞‼️

On December 13, 2025, at approximately 3:12 a.m., the Richfield Police Department received numerous emergency telephone calls from residents of 7601 Knox Avenue South reporting a male was “dragging a dead body” out of an apartment and loading it into a vehicle. A Richfield police officer in the area observed the vehicle departing and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop, and a brief pursuit ensued. The vehicle ultimately stopped at the emergency room entrance of M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota. An adult male driver exited the vehicle. Officers located an unconscious adult female in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the 23-year-old female died from her injuries. The adult male driver was taken into custody.

The incident remains under active investigation.
