Even we still have trouble spelling the word “committee.” And despite our numerous letters to Webster’s, they won’t change the spelling to “ccoommiittee.”

The Clue Awards at CrimeCon did not disappoint! Even though our ABC News Studios doc Ruby Red Handed didn’t win in the feature doc category, the nomination was a true honor. It was our third nomination in three consecutive years and we won in 2024 for Me Hereafter, so we must be doing something right! Important recognition for so many creators across the genre.

We couldn't be more excited to announce the nomination of our ABC News Studios film RUBY RED HANDED: Stealing America's Most Famous Pair of Shoes for Best Documentary Film at CrimeCon's prestigious CLUE Awards. The ceremony will be held in Las Vegas at the end of the month and honors the best true-crime programs of the year. Our series ME HEREAFTER previously won in the Outstanding True Crime Episodic Series category, and our show HOSTAGE RESCUE is also a previous nominee. We're thrilled to be recognized again! 50 years ago, a young woman named JoAnn Bontjes went out for a night with friends at a local bar, the Trimont Legion in southern Minnesota. Early the next morning, her car was found on the side of the road, but JoAnn was missing. The next day, her body was discovered on a different road nearby. She'd been murdered; shot in the head by a killer yet to be found. We have been following this case since 2019 and working intimately with the Martin County, MN Sheriff's Office, with the hope that we'll be there when justice is finally served. Partial DNA samples have been obtained in the case, but they have yet to result in the identification of a suspect. We have a lot of followers in MN, IA, and the surrounding states. If you have ANY information on JoAnn's murder which took place shortly after October 1st, 1975, please come forward and contact Martin County at 507-238-3167. Small town rumors have run rampant about what might have happened to JoAnn, but facts are what will finally solve this case.
